Federal Accepted 2/12 - Still One Bar on WMR and Transcripts Show N/A - IRS Letter Coming?

Federal return accepted on 2/12. It's been 31 days. WMR shows one bar only. Transcripts still say N/A for 2024. Just received notification of IRS mail coming today. Very concerning. Not sure what to expect. Have I made an error? Will this delay my refund further? Need this for quarterly estimated payment.

Don't panic yet! This happens a lot during peak season. IRS is crazy backed up rn. The letter could be smth simple like identity verification. I had same thing last yr - letter was just asking me to create ID.me account. NBD. Transcripts showing N/A is normal while processing. Give it another 2 weeks b4 stressing too much.

Thanks for this info. I filed on February 10th and still have the one bar. Is there a specific date when I should start to worry? March 31st seems like it's getting pretty late in the process.

This is incredibly helpful! Was starting to lose my mind checking WMR every morning. Why don't they make this clearer on their website? Wouldn't it save them countless phone calls if they just explained the realistic timeframes?

Can confirm this pattern. My transcript remained in N/A status for approximately 37 days during the current filing season before updating to a 846 code with DDD. The IRS processing queue operates on a multi-tier system that doesn't always reflect accurate status in their consumer-facing interfaces.

I was in the same boat last month - checking WMR every 15 minutes like I was refreshing concert tickets! Finally tried https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript once it appeared. It decoded everything and predicted my DD date within 1 day of actual deposit. The letter you're getting is probably just a verification notice - happened to me too. Like getting carded at a bar when you're 40... flattering but unnecessary! 😂 Seriously though, once your transcript updates, run it through taxr.ai - saved me hours of Google rabbit holes.

OMG I feel your pain!!! 😫 I was DESPERATE when this happened to me last month! Needed my refund for car repairs and daycare deposit. Called the IRS for THREE DAYS with no luck - constant busy signals! Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got through to an agent in like 20 minutes! Worth EVERY PENNY! The agent confirmed my return was just in normal processing and the letter was just confirming my filing. Such a relief to actually TALK to someone instead of guessing what's happening!

Has anyone actually verified if this Claimyr thing works? I've read about it online but I'm hesitant to use a third-party service when dealing with something as sensitive as taxes. The IRS website specifically warns about using unofficial channels.

I'm somewhat grateful for this suggestion, though I would probably try calling a few more times myself before using an external service. It might be helpful in certain situations, I suppose.

I used Claimyr last year when my return was stuck for 2 months. Got through in about 15 minutes when I had been trying for days. The agent told me there was a simple flag on my account they could remove. Refund came 5 days later. Would have been waiting forever otherwise.

Is this service compliant with IRS security protocols? How does it work technically? Does it just automate the calling process or is there something more to it?

Have you checked if you claimed any credits this year? Your tax return is like a plane ticket - basic economy moves faster through security than first class with all the extras. Credits like EIC or Child Tax Credit are like checking bags - they slow down your processing time while everything gets verified.

I did claim the Child Tax Credit this year. Does that usually cause longer delays? How much extra time should I expect to add to the normal processing time?

Be cautious about that letter. CP05 notices are prevalent this filing season, indicating a manual review of your reported income, withholdings, or credits. This triggers an automatic 120-day review period during which your transcript will remain in N/A status. The CSED (Collection Statute Expiration Date) doesn't begin until processing completes. Monitor your transcript for TC 570 codes followed by TC 571 resolution codes.

I got a letter two weeks ago. It was just asking me to verify my identity. I did it online in 10 minutes. My refund was deposited three days later. Don't stress until you know what the letter says. Most of these are routine.

The community wisdom here is that February filers often wait longer than January or March filers. It's like going to a restaurant during peak dinner rush - you'll wait longer than early birds or late diners. The N/A transcript with a letter is a common pattern this year, much more so than in previous filing seasons. Most people report it's just identity verification or confirmation of filing.

You might want to check if you have any credits on your return. Child Tax Credit or Earned Income Credit could potentially delay processing. Also, if your return was affected by any tax law changes, that might be causing the delay. The letter could be a simple verification request... I wouldn't be too concerned until you actually read what it says.
