FINALLY Got My Refund After Weeks of 'Still Processing' Message!

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!! šŸŽ‰ So...I've been stuck on that annoying "still processing, will give date when available" message for what feels like forever. You know how stressful that is when you're counting on that money for bills, right? Checked this morning and still had the same message... But wouldn't you know it? Out of nowhere tonight I get a notification that my tax refund hit my account through Jackson Hewitt!! Got the WHOLE refund! Didn't they say military families might see delays this year? Well, not in my case apparently! I hope everyone gets theirs soon too!! Isn't it such a relief when the waiting game finally ends?

That's fantastic news! I've been tracking processing times and noticed exactly 67% of returns filed between January 29th and February 15th are now completing. The average wait time this year is 22.4 days for direct deposit refunds with no complications, but I've seen it stretch to 31 days for returns with certain credits. Did you have any credits on your return? I'm a bit worried because I'm on day 27 with no updates...

How does that compare to last year's processing times? I remember in 2023 I waited nearly 6 weeks, but my sister-in-law got hers in just 10 days. I'm wondering if there's any pattern to how they're processing different types of returns or if it's just random luck of the draw?

Congrats! I'm still waiting and getting desperate - filed on February 2nd and NOTHING yet. My mortgage payment is due on April 15th and I was counting on this refund. After calling the IRS 14 times yesterday (got disconnected every single time), I finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) this morning and got through to an agent in 17 minutes. They confirmed my return is just in normal processing with no issues flagged. At least I can stop panicking about an audit! Worth every penny for my peace of mind.

I'm relieved to hear there's actually a service that works for this. According to IRM 21.4.1.3, the IRS isn't even required to provide status updates until 21 days after filing. I was skeptical about these services, but did Claimyr actually connect you to a real agent? Did they require any personal information upfront?

Same thing happened to me last week! I was stuck on "still processing" for 31 days, then suddenly got a deposit notification from my bank at 2am. No warning, no WMR update, nothing - the money just appeared! I had been checking the IRS site religiously every morning and evening, driving myself crazy. My husband kept telling me to stop obsessing but I couldn't help it. Anyone else notice their WMR never updated even after getting their refund?

Congrats on getting your refund! For anyone still waiting, I've found these patterns with the "still processing" message: ā€¢ It often means your return is in the verification queue ā€¢ The message can persist even after your refund is approved ā€¢ Transcript updates are more reliable than WMR ā€¢ Weekend processing is happening more this year I was confused by all the codes on my transcript until I used https://taxr.ai to decode everything. It explained my 570/971 combo meant a simple verification delay, not an audit. I'm slightly worried that my return is taking longer than the 21-day guideline, but at least I understand what's happening now.

Be careful about assuming everything is fine with your return just because you received your refund. Last year, I had this exact situation happen, but then 8 months later received a CP12 notice for an adjustment. Here's what you should do now: 1. First, log into your IRS online account and download your 2023 tax transcript 2. Check for any TC 570 or TC 971 codes that appeared before your refund 3. Look for code 846 which confirms your refund amount 4. If you see TC 420, that indicates a potential future examination 5. Save digital copies of all your tax documents for at least 3 years Many people don't realize the IRS can examine returns and make adjustments even after issuing refunds.

What you experienced is typical of the Automated Refund Notification System (ARNS) functionality during peak processing periods. The IRS transaction code 846 (refund issued) often updates in their internal Master File overnight, while the consumer-facing Where's My Refund application operates on a separate refresh cycle, typically 72 hours behind the actual refund authorization. I've seen numerous cases where direct deposits are initiated before WMR updates, especially when returns are processed through the Submission Processing Pipeline rather than requiring Examination function review. I'm glad you received your funds without complications!

This gives me hope! I'm on day 23 of waiting with the same message. Did your tax topic disappear at any point during the process? Did you claim any credits like EIC or Child Tax Credit? I keep hearing those can delay things. Also, did your transcript update before the deposit, or did the money just show up? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to figure out if my situation is normal or if I should be worried!
