As of Date Changed from 02/17 to 03/17 - Transcript Still Blank
I verified my identity yesterday morning through the IRS portal as required. This morning I noticed my 'as of' date changed from 02/17 to 03/17. However, my transcript is still showing as blank. Should I wait and check for updates next week? Has anyone experienced similar timeline changes after verification? Is this a positive indication that my return is being processed?

This is actually a normal progression in your processing cycle. Per IRS Internal Revenue Manual section 21.4.1.3, the 'as of' date change typically indicates your return has moved to the next stage in processing. When this occurs after identity verification, it generally means your verification was successful and your return has been released from the verification hold status. Most taxpayers see transcript updates within 7-10 business days after an 'as of' date change.

I went through this exact process last month. The blank transcript after verification was driving me crazy! According to the IRS.gov processing guidelines and TaxPro forums, this is normal but frustrating. I finally got tired of waiting and used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) to actually reach an IRS agent instead of waiting on hold for hours. They confirmed my verification was successful and gave me an estimated completion date. Totally worth it since I needed to make financial decisions based on my refund timeline.

As of date changes are good. Means movement. Blank transcript is normal. Check again Friday. System updates Thursday nights.

Thanks for this straightforward explanation! Sometimes I wonder if we overcomplicate these processes? The Thursday night update schedule is particularly helpful information.

How does this compare to returns with claimed credits like EIC or CTC? Do those follow the same pattern or would the transcript show different indicators at this stage?

Cycle codes are critical here. Transcripts with 05 cycle codes update Thursday nights/Friday mornings. Those with 01-04 codes update daily. Been watching this pattern for years since my ex-spouse and I had ITIN/SSN filing complications.

Wait, there are specific update nights? I've been checking randomly throughout the day! Is there a specific time on Thursday night when the updates typically happen?

I had the exact same situation and want to walk you through what happened for me: 1. Verified identity 2. As of date changed the next day 3. Transcript remained blank for 6 days 4. On day 7, transcript suddenly showed all processing steps 5. Refund arrived 5 days later I found https://taxr.ai incredibly helpful during this time. It analyzed my transcript once it appeared and explained exactly what each code meant for my specific situation. It even predicted my direct deposit date correctly based on the processing codes that appeared.

Does this service actually provide any information beyond what you can see on the transcript yourself? I'm hesitant to use third-party tools when dealing with sensitive tax information.

Tbh I don't trust those 'as of' dates at all. Mine changed 4x during processing last yr and meant absolutely nothing! The IRS systems are so outdated they barely talk to each other. Sometimes the WMR tool shows nothing while your $ is already being sent to your bank. I'd just wait it out - checking obsessively won't make it process any faster (learned that the hard way lol).

I appreciate this reality check! I've been refreshing my transcript every few hours thinking it would somehow speed things up. Good to know I'm not the only one who's been through this anxiety-inducing process.

I'm actually feeling optimistic about your situation! The as-of date change is DEFINITELY a positive sign that your return is actively moving through the processing pipeline. I've analyzed hundreds of these cases in my work, and this pattern typically indicates successful identity verification integration with your return. The blank transcript is frustrating, I know, but completely normal during this transitional phase as your return moves from verification to standard processing!

Thank you for this detailed explanation. Would it be advisable to contact the IRS directly if I don't see any changes by the end of next week? I want to ensure I'm taking all appropriate steps to monitor my return status.
