Verified Identity In-Person at IRS - Notice Still Showing & Transcripts Still Blank
I completed in-person verification at my local IRS office on Thursday (March 7th) but the verification notice on my online account is still present as of today. My transcripts continue to show as blank/N/A across all categories. Does anyone have specific information regarding the timeline for notice removal post-verification and when transcript visibility typically updates? As a military dependent, I'm entitled to expedited processing, but I'm concerned about potential delays in the verification acknowledgment pipeline. I've maintained meticulous documentation of all interactions.

Have you considered that the IRS systems don't immediately update after in-person verification? It's a common misconception that verification instantly clears the hold on your account, isn't it? In my experience, there's typically a 7-10 business day lag between verification and system updates, sometimes longer during peak filing season. I understand how frustrating the waiting game can be, especially when you've done everything right by verifying in person rather than waiting for the phone queue.

I went through this exact process last year. First step: completed in-person verification. Second step: waited approximately 9 business days for the notice to disappear. Third step: waited another 3 business days for transcripts to populate. Fourth step: received my refund about 7 days after that. The whole timeline took almost 3 weeks from verification to refund, which made me nervous the entire time. I kept thinking something had gone wrong when it was just the normal processing time.

My verification timeline last month: • Day 1: In-person verification completed • Day 8: Notice disappeared from account • Day 11: Transcripts became visible • Day 14: WMR updated • Day 21: Refund deposited The IRS representative explicitly told me not to expect any updates for at least a week after verification. Their internal systems batch process these updates rather than real-time.

Did they provide you with any verification confirmation number or documentation during your in-person appointment? I'm dealing with a similar verification requirement, and my transcript status is showing Code 570 with a verification letter. The IRS publication states that post-verification processing should resume within 9 business days, but I've seen conflicting information on whether the notice removal is automatic or requires manual intervention by an account management representative.

Been thru this exact thing last month. Took forever to get someone on the phone to confirm my verification was processed. Wasted like 3 hrs on hold before giving up. Finally used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com) and got thru to an IRS agent in like 20 mins. Agent confirmed my verification was processed but hadn't been updated in the system yet. They expedited the update and my transcripts appeared 2 days later. Def worth the $$ to avoid the phone hell. IMO it's the only way to get quick answers about verification status.

The verification acknowledgment process is much slower than most people realize. Unlike regular return processing which is largely automated, verification removal requires a human to review and approve it. It's similar to how amended returns take 16+ weeks while regular returns take 21 days - anything requiring manual review takes significantly longer. Your military status should help once the verification is cleared, but unfortunately doesn't speed up the verification acknowledgment itself.

Did you file your return before March 1st? I'm curious because I've noticed a pattern where returns filed in February with verification requirements seem to have longer processing times compared to those filed in early March. Also, did the IRS employee who verified your identity mention anything about the specific type of verification code on your account? Some verification codes (like 5071C) clear faster than others (like 4883C).

Thanks for asking these questions. I filed on February 12th, so that might explain the delay. The verification notice was a 5071C letter that directed me to either verify online or in-person. I chose in-person since I had my military dependent ID and other documentation that I wanted to present directly.

Think of the IRS verification system like a traffic jam that's slowly clearing. The February filers are like cars stuck in the middle of the congestion, while March filers might be at the edges where things move a bit faster. Your 5071C verification is like having a special pass, but you still need to wait for the traffic controllers (IRS agents) to process it and wave you through. The good news is that once you're through that verification checkpoint, the rest of the journey should move at normal speed.

According to the IRS Operations page (https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-operations), they're currently experiencing higher than normal verification processing times. The site states that February returns with identity verification requirements are taking 14-21 days to clear verification status, even after successful verification. I'm frustrated that they don't communicate this clearly in the verification letter or during the appointment. It creates unnecessary anxiety when people think something went wrong with their verification.

I might be able to provide some insight based on what I've observed. The IRS typically updates their transcript database on Thursday nights and sometimes on Sunday nights. If your verification was processed after the Thursday update cycle on March 7th, it's possible that your records might update this coming Thursday (March 14th). I would suggest checking your transcript on Friday morning, March 15th. I don't want to make any guarantees, but this pattern has been fairly consistent in my experience with the IRS processing cycles.
