Anyone have Five Star Credit Union and got their tax refund deposit yet?
Waiting for my tax refund is like watching paint dry in a hurricane - you know something's happening but can't tell if it's progress. Filed back on 02/25 and my refund's supposed to be direct deposited to Five Star Credit Union. Anyone else banking with them get their deposit yet? This divorce has my finances stretched thinner than dollar store toilet paper, and I'm trying to figure out if it's just me or if everyone with Five Star is in the same boat.

I've been through this frustrating DDD limbo with Five Star CU before. Their ACH processing protocol often creates a 24-48 hour delay beyond the official deposit date due to their internal verification algorithms. Unlike larger financial institutions that pre-credit pending deposits, FSCU typically waits for complete settlement before releasing funds to accounts. Have you checked your transcript for the official DDD (Direct Deposit Date)?

Is this different from other credit unions? I'm with a local one too and wondering if I should expect similar delays compared to friends with big banks like Chase or Wells Fargo.

This is generally accurate. I would add that Five Star, in particular, tends to process ACH transactions in batches that typically complete by 10 AM and 3 PM, though this may vary somewhat. Their system is reasonably efficient, but certainly not as immediate as some national banks.

I've been waiting exactly 21 days since acceptance and my transcript shows a DDD of 03/18. Does Five Star usually take the full 48 hours after that date or should I see it sometime on the 18th?

Five Star member for 6 years here. Their Direct Deposit Processing Timeline typically follows a specific pattern. If your DDD (Direct Deposit Date) falls on a business day, expect funds to be available by 9 AM EST on that date, occasionally extending to 12 PM EST. For weekend DDDs, funds typically appear the following Monday, unless it's a federal holiday. Have you verified your DDD on your tax transcript yet? That's the definitive indicator.

Thanks for breaking this down! So helpful to know: • 9 AM is the typical deposit time • Sometimes extends to noon • Weekend deposits = Monday availability Do you know if Five Star ever does early deposits like some online banks advertise?

I wonder if branch location matters with Five Star? Maybe some regions process faster than others? I'm in their southern region and sometimes feel like we're last to get updates.

Let me walk you through what's likely happening with your refund and Five Star CU: Step 1: IRS issues the refund on your DDD (Direct Deposit Date) Step 2: Federal Reserve processes the ACH transfer (1 business day) Step 3: Five Star receives the pending deposit Step 4: Five Star's verification process (can take up to 24 hours) Step 5: Funds appear in your account If you're really anxious about this, I'd recommend using Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) to connect with an IRS agent. They can confirm your exact DDD and whether the deposit was already sent. I used it last year when my refund was missing in action, and they got me through to an agent in about 15 minutes who confirmed my deposit had been sent but was held up at my credit union.

Tbh Five Star isn't great w/ tax refunds. Check ur WMR status ASAP. If it says "sent" but nothing in ur acct yet, call Five Star directly @ their ACH dept (not regular customer svc). Ask specifically about pending govt deposits. They sometimes hold IRS deposits for 24hrs for "verification" but won't tell u unless u ask. Happened to me last yr & the $ was sitting there the whole time!

Anyone else find it funny how we check our bank accounts 50 times a day during tax season? 😂 I'm with Five Star too and was playing the refresh game last year. What helped me stop obsessing was using https://taxr.ai to analyze my transcript. It showed me exactly what was happening with my refund and predicted my deposit date within 24 hours of accuracy. Saved me from calling Five Star every day asking where my money was! Plus it explained all those weird codes on my transcript that might as well have been hieroglyphics.

I'm always hesitant to use third-party sites with tax info. Did you have to upload your entire transcript or personal info? I'm feeling desperate waiting for my refund but also worried about security.

Have you checked if your refund might be offset for any reason? I thought my credit union was delaying things, but turns out my refund was reduced to cover past-due child support. Wouldn't that be just perfect after a divorce? The IRS doesn't always communicate this clearly, and you end up waiting for money that's never coming. Should you be checking for that possibility instead of focusing on Five Star's processing time?

Based on community reports this season, Five Star Credit Union typically posts IRS deposits between 7-10 AM on the scheduled DDD. However, if there's any discrepancy between the name on your tax return and your banking information, this could cause a delay or rejection. Have you confirmed that your name on the account matches exactly how it appears on your tax return? Post-divorce name changes can sometimes cause these issues.

Last year I had Five Star and my refund was supposed to hit on a Thursday. I kept checking all day - nothing. Called them Friday morning and they said they could see the pending deposit but their system had flagged it for "unusual activity" because it was larger than my normal deposits. Had to go to a branch with ID to get it released! Not saying that's happening to you, but if it doesn't show up by the day after your DDD, definitely call them directly.
