Any AS OF 3/15 transcripts update? WMR still processing
Just checked my transcript on the IRS.gov site this morning and noticed my AS OF date is still 3/15/2024. Has anyone else seen their transcripts update today? I filed on 2/2 and according to TurboTax I was accepted the same day, but WMR still shows "processing" with one bar. I've got some investment income this year so maybe that's slowing things down? I keep checking the IRS2Go app but nothing changes. Starting to get a bit concerned since I'm usually much faster...

The AS OF date on transcripts isn't actually a reliable indicator of when your refund will process. According to the IRS Processing Cycles page (https://www.irs.gov/refunds/tax-season-refund-frequently-asked-questions), transcript updates typically happen weekly on Fridays, but the AS OF date can change without any actual processing occurring. Many of us are seeing the same thing right now - I filed 2/5 and my AS OF date has changed 3 times but still no refund. The IRS is dealing with significant backlog according to their operations dashboard: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-operations. If you have investment income with Schedule D or complex forms, you're likely in the longer processing queue.

•I've been watching my transcript carefully for weeks now... My AS OF date has been 3/15 for almost 10 days, but I did notice that other fields have changed subtly. My AGI line updated last week even though the AS OF date stayed the same. The IRS systems don't always update everything simultaneously. Sometimes they process different parts of your return through different departments.

•My AS OF date was stuck at 3/8 for two weeks, then suddenly jumped to 4/1 yesterday and my refund appeared this morning. Did you check your transaction codes? Are you seeing any 570/971 codes or just no activity at all?

I was in the same situation last week. AS OF date frozen at 3/15 for days with no movement. Here's what I did to get answers: Step 1: Tried calling the regular IRS number (800-829-1040) - waited 45 minutes before disconnecting Step 2: Tried calling early morning (7am) - still 35+ minute wait Step 3: Used Claimyr.com to connect with an agent - got through in about 15 minutes Step 4: Agent confirmed my return was in processing with no holds Step 5: Received DDD two days later The Claimyr service (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) basically waits on hold for you and calls when an agent is available. I was skeptical about paying for something like this, but after wasting hours on hold myself, it was worth it to finally get confirmation nothing was wrong with my return.

•Did you really need to pay someone just to wait on hold? Seems like you could've just kept trying or used the IRS callback feature. My transcript was stuck too but eventually updated on its own. Some people are just impatient.

I've been tracking the AS OF date patterns for three years now. According to Internal Revenue Manual 21.4.1, the AS OF date is primarily an internal administrative marker and doesn't directly correlate to refund issuance dates. My transcript was stuck at 3/1 for weeks, then suddenly updated to 3/29 yesterday with a direct deposit date for next Tuesday. The system is working - just slower than we'd all prefer. I understand the anxiety though - we all want our money!

I was confused by all the transcript codes until I ran my transcript through taxr.ai. It explained that my AS OF date wasn't updating because I was in the Integrity Verification Operation queue (common for returns with investment income). The tool analyzed all my transcript codes and gave me a predicted DDD based on similar processing patterns. It was actually really helpful in understanding the Transaction Code Hierarchy and what each code meant for my specific situation. You can check it out at https://taxr.ai if you're trying to decode your transcript.

•Idk about these 3rd party sites analyzing IRS stuff. How do they know more than the IRS itself? Seems like they're just guessing based on public info. Have u confirmed their prediction was accurate?

•I just tried this on March 12th after my transcript finally appeared! The analysis was spot on - it identified that my 570 code was just a temporary hold for verification and predicted my refund would be approved within 7 days. Sure enough, got my DDD yesterday for 3/20. I had no idea what all those codes meant before this!

The AS OF date is just one small piece of the processing timeline. What's more important is looking for cycle codes and transaction codes. If you're seeing TC 150 (return filed), look at the cycle code next to it - the first two digits tell you which processing week you're in. Most refunds are issued within 2-3 weeks after the TC 150 posts. Investment income can trigger additional verification under the AUR (Automated Underreporter) program, especially if there are any discrepancies between your reported amounts and what brokerages submitted on 1099 forms.

Isn't it frustrating how the IRS gives us these cryptic codes without any clear explanation? The community wisdom here is that AS OF dates typically update on Thursdays/Fridays for most processing cycles. But here's the thing - did you notice if your account transcript has a TC 150 code yet? That's the first sign of actual processing. If you have that, you're probably 1-2 weeks away from completion. If not, your return might still be in the intake queue. Everyone's focused on the AS OF date, but shouldn't we be looking at the actual transaction codes?

•I'm worried because my AS OF date has changed three times now but I still don't have a TC 150 code. Does that mean my return is lost? It's been over 5 weeks since I filed and I'm getting really anxious about it. What if they never process it?

•Just to clarify for everyone - the TC 150 sometimes takes 3-4 weeks to appear, especially during peak filing season. It's not lost, just in queue! I've seen people get their refunds even before the transcript fully updates. The IRS systems don't always talk to each other in real-time. 😂 Don't panic until you're past 6 weeks with no updates.

Warning about obsessively checking transcripts: • The IRS systems update at different times (WMR ≠Transcripts ≠actual processing) • Checking multiple times daily won't speed anything up • AS OF dates can roll forward or backward without meaning • Investment income (1099-B/DIV/INT) returns are often flagged for additional verification • Each verification step adds 7-21 days to processing I made myself crazy last year checking 5x daily for 6 weeks. This year I set a weekly reminder and my mental health is much better. Just be patient - almost everyone gets their refund eventually.

I've been through this rodeo many times. Last year my AS OF date was stuck at 2/26 for almost a month, then suddenly jumped to 4/15 and my refund appeared 3 days later. Here's what the IRS doesn't tell you: they have internal processing batches that run on specific days of the week. If you miss one batch, you wait for the next. And if your return has any complexity at all (investments, business income, credits), you're likely going through extra verification steps. The worst thing you can do is amend or call repeatedly - that just pushes you further back in line.

•My AS OF date has been exactly 3/15 for 17 days now with no movement at all. I've counted every single day. My return isn't even complicated - just a W-2 and some dividend income. I'm getting really worried that something's wrong. Should I call them or keep waiting?

Think of the AS OF date like the "last modified" timestamp on a document - it doesn't mean the document is finished! My transcript was stuck on 3/1 for weeks while I was panicking. Then yesterday everything updated at once - TC 150, 806, 570, 571, and 846 all appeared together with a direct deposit date for next Tuesday. Sometimes the IRS processes everything internally before updating any public-facing systems. It's like when your Amazon package shows no movement for days then suddenly appears on your doorstep!
