Transcript Suddenly Updated After Being Blank for Weeks?

Anyone else have their IRS transcript show absolutely nothing for exactly 31 days and then suddenly update today? Filed on January 28th, accepted same day, and WMR has been stuck on 'received' ever since. Checked transcript every morning at 6:30am - always N/A until today. Now I can see everything. Just wondering if this was a mass update or if I'm the only one.

This happens every year. IRS systems update in batches. Not individual processing. Transcript databases update separately from WMR. Normal pattern for this time in tax season.

According to the Internal Revenue Manual section 21.4.1, the IRS typically processes returns in 21-day cycles, but during peak season (which we're in now), system constraints can cause batch delays of 3-5 weeks. This is completely consistent with what you experienced, and I saw the exact same pattern with my own transcripts last week.

Oh thank god someone explained this! I've been checking every single day and was starting to think something was wrong with my return. Such a relief to know this is normal! šŸ˜…

Yes! Mine just updated too after showing nothing for weeks! ā€¢ Filed: February 7th ā€¢ Accepted: February 7th ā€¢ WMR: Stuck on first bar the whole time ā€¢ Transcript: Blank until this morning ā€¢ Now showing: Processing date of 3/18/2024 ā€¢ Expected refund date: 3/21/2024 So relieved I'm not the only one experiencing this!

Mine updated today too! I've been checking every day since February 3rd when I filed. Transcript was completely empty until March 15th (today). Now I can see processing date of March 18th, 2024 and a direct deposit date of March 21st, 2024. Seems like they did a massive batch update overnight.

Last year I had the same issue - blank transcript for almost 4 weeks then suddenly everything appeared. This year I wasn't taking chances with the waiting game. After 2 weeks of nothing, I used Claimyr.com to get through to an IRS agent in about 15 minutes. They confirmed my return was in the system but just waiting for processing. The peace of mind was worth it rather than checking transcripts obsessively like I did last year. Anyone else thinking of calling the IRS should check them out - saves hours of redial hell.

Watch out - just because your transcript updated doesn't mean you're in the clear! Mine updated last week and I got all excited, then BAM - code 570 appeared the next day. Now I'm stuck in verification hell. šŸ˜© Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but don't celebrate until that money hits your account!

This happened to me last year! Transcript updated after being blank for a month, got all excited about my $4,378 refund, then got hit with a 570 freeze code. Ended up taking another 6 weeks to resolve. I was counting on that money for some car repairs too. The worst part was not knowing what was happening.

I'm dealing with this RIGHT NOW. Transcript updated yesterday with 570/971 combo. Need to file my quarterly estimated payment by April 15th and was counting on this refund! Anyone know if I call the IRS Taxpayer Advocate line instead of the main line if it's faster? Running out of time here.

Did anyone notice if their WMR updated at the same time as their transcript? My transcript finally showed up today too, but WMR is still stuck on the first bar. Is that normal or should I be concerned? And did your transcript show any codes like 570 or 971?

This appears to be a fairly common occurrence, particularly during high-volume processing periods. The IRS typically runs their transcript database updates in overnight batches, which may explain why many of you are seeing updates simultaneously. It's worth noting, however, that transcript visibility doesn't necessarily guarantee imminent payment. In some cases, particularly with returns claiming certain credits, additional review steps may still be pending, even after transcript visibility is restored.

I checked the IRS2Go app, their website, and even called the automated system at 1-800-829-1954 when this happened to me. The transcript updated first, then WMR updated about 24 hours later. According to the IRS Operations page on IRS.gov, they're currently processing returns filed on or before February 14th, so this timeline makes sense for many of us seeing updates now.

OMG same! My transcript was N/A for 5 wks then boom - updated this AM. Filed 1/29, accepted same day, CTC + EIC. Transcript shows DDD of 3/21. WMR still on 1st bar tho. IME the transcript is always more accurate than WMR. Last yr my $$ hit 2 days b4 the WMR even updated lol.
