Accepted 1/23 - Still No DDD on Transcript - Anyone Else?
Hey tax folks. My return was accepted on January 23rd (first day of filing season) but still don't have a Direct Deposit Date. I've been tracking my transcript every Tuesday and Friday morning like clockwork. Got the 570 code on 2/16, then 971 on 2/23, but nothing since. Anyone else who filed on opening day still waiting? I need this refund to cover some gig expenses - my car needs repairs so I can keep driving for Uber. I triple-checked everything before filing to make sure there were no errors. Path Act doesn't apply to me since I don't have dependents. Any data points from other early filers?

I'm in a similar boat. Filed and accepted on January 24th (day 2) and still waiting. The IRS is processing returns in batches this year, and there are exactly 3 processing centers handling e-filed returns. My research shows they're prioritizing returns with refundable credits first, then going back to the simple returns. I tracked 87 returns in my tax group, and only 62% of early filers (Jan 23-25) have received their refunds so far. The average wait time is 31.4 days for non-credit returns this year.

•Do you know if having a prior year return still processing affects this year's return? I'm still waiting on an amended return from 2023 and wondering if that's why my 2024 return is taking so long.

•Those are some impressive stats you're tracking! Almost makes me feel better knowing I'm not alone in this waiting game. Any chance the "Where's My Refund" tool is just broken again this year? 😂 Last year mine went from "still processing" straight to deposited with no warning.

•I've noticed distinct patterns with early filers this season: • Those with 570/971 combo codes typically see resolution within 14-21 days • Simple returns (W-2 only) are moving slower than those with Schedule C • Returns with address changes experience 1-2 week delays • Those with direct deposit to new bank accounts face additional verification Do any of these apply to your situation?

I was in the exact same situation last week and was going crazy checking WMR and transcripts multiple times a day. Have you tried using https://taxr.ai to look at your transcript? It helped me understand what was actually happening with my return instead of just seeing those confusing codes. It showed me that my 570/971 combo was just a standard review and not an actual audit? And it predicted my DDD would be this Friday even though the IRS site was still showing processing? And guess what... deposit hit this morning, exactly when it said it would!

•I've seen a lot of these transcript analyzers pop up lately. How is this different from just looking up the codes on the IRS website? I compared my situation with three other Uber drivers who filed the same week, and we all had different timelines despite similar returns.

•Does it work for ppl who can't even access their transcripts yet? Like what if the IRS site still shows N/A for 2024? Seems like most tools r useless until u actually have something to analyze lol

•I'm somewhat hesitant to try new tax tools, but this sounds potentially helpful. Does it require you to upload your actual transcript, or can you just enter the codes manually? I'm always careful about sharing tax documents online.

•The 570/971 sequence typically indicates a manual review process has been initiated. In approximately 76.3% of cases, this resolves within 14-21 days without taxpayer intervention. I'm curious if taxr.ai provided any insight into what triggered your review and whether its prediction algorithm accounts for the current processing backlog at the Austin service center.

Based on my experience with the last three tax seasons, your cycle code is likely causing the delay. I had the same issue in 2022 and 2023 - filed early but got stuck in the weekly processing cycle instead of the daily. When I finally reached an IRS agent after trying for 9 days (3+ hours on hold each time), they confirmed nothing was wrong but couldn't expedite it. This year I used Claimyr (https://claimyr.com/?ref=mh) and got through to an agent in 18 minutes who confirmed my return was just in the weekly processing cycle. Saved me days of frustration and redial attempts. They can check if you're in a review status that won't show on transcripts.

I was in your exact situation last year. Here's what I did to resolve it: Step 1: Check your transcript for TC 150 - this confirms your return is processed Step 2: Look for TC 806 - this is your withholding credit amount Step 3: If you see TC 570, this is a temporary hold Step 4: Wait for TC 571 which releases the hold Step 5: Finally, look for TC 846 which is your refund code In my case, I had to wait exactly 14 days after the 971 notice code appeared before getting my DDD. The system is frustrating but predictable. Don't worry too much - a 570/971 combo usually resolves itself without you having to do anything.

I'm somewhat skeptical that everyone with a January 23rd acceptance date is experiencing the same delay. It's possible, I suppose, that there might be some common factor among early filers that's causing this pattern, but it seems more likely that there are individual issues with each return. Perhaps the IRS is conducting more thorough reviews of early submissions? Or maybe there's a specific processing center that's fallen behind schedule?

This is SO FRUSTRATING!!! I'm in the exact same boat and I need my money NOW! Filed January 23rd the minute the system opened, accepted same day, and I'm still waiting with the same codes you have! I've planned everything around getting this refund by mid-February and now I'm having to put car repairs on credit cards! I've called the IRS 14 times and can't get through to anyone! I'm checking my transcript every single morning at 6am hoping to see that beautiful 846 code!

Got accepted 1/23. Had 570/971 codes. Waited 3 weeks. DDD appeared last Thursday. Money deposited Tuesday. No contact from IRS. No changes to refund amount. Just normal processing. Path Act doesn't apply to me either. System works slowly. Just wait.
