I work in finance, so let me break this down for you: 1. Refund processing times vary by company and payment method. 2. Most companies initiate refunds within 1-3 business days of cancellation. 3. Credit card refunds typically appear as pending within 24 hours but may take 3-5 days to post. 4. Debit card and bank transfer refunds can take 5-10 business days. 5. PayPal refunds are usually faster, often within 24 hours. If it's been longer than these timeframes, definitely reach out to the company again. They should be able to provide a refund confirmation number or transaction ID. As for the IRS issue, consider using the Taxpayer Advocate Service if you're having trouble resolving it on your own. They can often help navigate complex situations.
Wow, thank you so much for this detailed breakdown! It's really helpful to have all this info in one place. I'll definitely keep an eye on those timeframes and follow up if needed.
lol welcome to the wonderful world of adulting where you gotta chase down your own money 𤔠good luck OP!
Haha, ain't that the truth! š Thanks for the laugh, needed that today!
This entire tax system is BROKEN. why should we have to be detectives trying to figure out all these stupid codes? why cant they just clearly communicate whats happening with OUR MONEY? so frustrating.
i was in the same boat literally 2 weeks ago. Those codes appeared 4/30 and 5/7 on my account. I called using claimyr.com and got through to an agent who told me they were verifying my w2 income because there was a small discrepancy with what my employer reported. She manually verified it during the call and my DDD showed up 5/21. Refund hit my account yesterday (5/25). talking to an agent directly was the only thing that worked after weeks of nothing happening.
this happened to my husband and me last year. we got that same message for weeks and then suddenly got a letter saying we had to verify our identity. check the IRS website for identity verification. maybe thats ur issue too
whatever you do, DO NOT call the IRS general number. youll be on hold for hours and probably get disconnected. if you need to talk to someone, either use claimyr.com (they'll wait on hold for you) or call your local Taxpayer Advocate Service office.
After dealing with a similar nightmare with Liberty Tax (they forgot my 1099-B completely), I got NOWHERE trying to call the IRS myself. I finally used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me on the phone with an actual IRS agent in about 40 minutes. The agent was able to see exactly what had happened with my return and walk me through the amendment process. It was the only way I could talk to a live agent after weeks of trying on my own.
It uses some kind of system to navigate the IRS phone tree and holds your place in line. When they're about to connect to an agent, you get a call. Talking to an actual IRS person was worth every penny - resolved in one call what I couldn't fix in weeks of trying.
