Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

I was in the same boat last year waiting for my refund with a DDD and a major car repair bill looming. After my DDD passed with no deposit, I spent three days trying to get through to the IRS on their regular number with no luck. Be careful with Credit Karma this year. I had issues with my CTC processing because of how they handled the advance payments from last year. Steps I had to take: 1. Double-check that Letter 6419 amounts matched what CK entered 2. Verify CK didn't automatically check the box for receiving advance payments if you didn't 3. Call CK support directly (not IRS) to verify your filing status Several people in my tax group had delays because CK's system didn't properly account for the advance payments.

Oh my goodness, I went through EXACTLY this last year! I was so worried about messing up the Child Tax Credit after my divorce. I finally just went ahead and filed using the portal amounts. The letter arrived THREE DAYS after I filed and matched exactly what was in the portal. I was SO relieved! My return was processed normally with no issues at all. Just make sure you have a clear agreement with your ex about who claims which year - we put ours in writing just to be safe!

I went through this exact same thing last month! TurboTax's system is like a restaurant that tells you your table will be ready in 20 minutes but then won't seat you when you show up on time. My estimated date was February 24th, but I didn't qualify for the advance either. The good news? My actual refund showed up on February 26th - just two days after their estimate. So their date prediction was pretty accurate, even though the early refund thing was a no-go. Hang tight, you're probably going to see that money hit your account right around the date they're showing.
This is exactly the kind of real-world experience I was looking for! I've been filing with TurboTax for years and their estimates are usually within 2-3 days of accuracy. The advance program is just a marketing gimmick to get people excited about something most won't qualify for anyway.
Compared to other tax services I've used, TurboTax does seem to have more accurate date predictions, even if their advance program is restrictive. I've found they tend to be cautious with their estimates - H&R Block was much more optimistic but less accurate in my experience.
According to the TurboTax support page at https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/, the refund advance is a loan product that has specific eligibility requirements including minimum refund amounts and passing their credit check. The estimated date you're seeing is completely separate - it's just their prediction of normal IRS processing time. You can verify your actual refund status directly at https://www.irs.gov/refunds which will be more accurate than what TurboTax is showing.

I stopped using tax prep cards three years ago after a nightmare experience. My refund was supposedly deposited but the card showed zero balance for four days. Customer service had no answers. Finally had to go to an actual H&R Block office to resolve it. Now I use Credit Union direct deposit - refund came two days EARLIER than estimated this year. Plus no random fees for checking my balance or calling customer service. These cards make money by hoping you don't read the fine print.

Be careful about relying on these cards year after year. My cousin used Emerald Card for three years straight. Last year, they froze his account for "suspicious activity" when he tried to withdraw his full refund. Took 14 days to resolve. The company claimed it was for his protection, but he missed a car payment because of it. These companies aren't banks - they don't have the same regulations. Always have a backup plan for accessing your money.
