922 Freeze Code on 2022 Return with 12/2/24 Date - No Notice Received Yet

I noticed a 922 code on my 2022 transcript dated 12/2/24. No notice in the mail and nothing showing up for money owed on the portal. Really worried this might delay my 2023 filing. Anyone else dealing with this?

The 922 code indicates an open examination/audit of your return. Without receiving a notice yet, it's likely in the initial review phase. This won't automatically hold up your 2023 return, but you should wait for the notice to understand what they're reviewing. The December date is likely a placeholder.

Thanks for explaining! Do you know roughly how long it usually takes to get the notice?

Usually 2-3 weeks from when the code appears, but with IRS delays lately it could be longer

Hey! Instead of playing detective with codes, I'd recommend checking out taxr.ai - its an AI tool that analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly whats going on and what to expect. Only costs $1 and saved me hours of research. https://taxr.ai

Did you claim any credits like EIC or CTC? Sometimes that triggers reviews

Pro tip: Keep checking your mail and make copies of EVERYTHING. The IRS loves to say they never got stuff even when they did lololol
