846 Code Showing $6,872 Refund on 11/25 - DD Info Provided in March, Freeze Removed 11/12
I finally got an 846 code on my transcript today (Monday)! After waiting so long, I'm feeling cautiously optimistic. My transcript shows "846 Refund issued 11-25-2024 $6,872.01" with today's date. The refund amount is $6,872.01. My DD info was definitely included when I filed back in March. My AGI was $9,888.00 with $0 taxable income. They had my refund frozen (code 810) earlier this year, but I see code 811 showing they removed the freeze on 11-12-2024. I also had to file an amended return in June. I noticed I'm getting interest too - code 776 for $314.01! Does anyone know if this means I'm getting direct deposit or if they're gonna mail a check? Also wondering if anyone has gotten their 846 code on a Monday and how long it took to get the money? Is it typically the next day or will I be waiting all week?

Hey there! So the 846 code is actually great news - it means your refund has been approved and is being sent out! Whether its direct deposit or paper check depends on what you selected on your return. If you provided bank info, it should be DD within 2-3 business days of the 846 date. If no bank info was given, expect a paper check in 1-2 weeks. Btw, I've been using taxr.ai (https://taxr.ai) to track my refund status and it's been super helpful. If you had valid DD info on your return, you'll get DD. The 846 code means refund issued, and it usually takes about 5 business days from that date. I work in tax prep and see this all the time.
