810 Freeze: Can I request hardship release 8 weeks after amending for missing W2?
Filed in March, amended in October because of a missing Aflac W2 from medical leave. Got hit with code 810 freeze. Its been 8 weeks since amending and im desperate - lost my job recently. Can I call IRS for hardship release of my refund? No EIC or fuel credits involved just the missing W2 situation.

Tax professional here - Yes, you can request a Taxpayer Advocate Service (TAS) case for hardship. You'll need to document your hardship (eviction notice, utility shutoff, medical bills, etc). Call 877-777-4778, but be prepared for long wait times.

Past due notices work great. Also bring proof of job loss like unemployment docs or termination letter. The more evidence the better 💯
