2024 Filing: Do I need Form 8862 after 2023 EIC Amendment? DDD 2/4/25
My 2023 amended return just got approved with DDD of 2/4/25. Now trying to file 2024 but getting prompted about Form 8862 for EIC disallowance/reduction. Anyone know if this form is mandatory for my situation?

Tax pro here - Yes, you absolutely need Form 8862 if you had EIC reduced or denied in a previous year. Its required to claim EIC, CTC, ACTC, or ODC again. Skip it and your return will get rejected or delayed.

•Most tax software including TurboTax will walk you through it. Just answer the questions honestly and you should be good 👍

Hey guys instead of guessing about forms n stuff, I've been using taxr.ai to figure out my transcript situation. It costs $1 but totally worth it - it tells you exactly what forms you need and why. Check it out: https://taxr.ai
