Form 8862 Required - EIC/CTC Rejected - Anyone else dealing with this nightmare?
Found out I need to submit Form 8862 because my EIC was rejected last year. This is getting ridiculous, between waiting months for my refund and now having to file extra paperwork. Done with this whole tax filing situation after this year.

The Form 8862 is required when your Earned Income Credit (EIC) or Child Tax Credit was previously denied or reduced. You'll need to file this to claim these credits again. It's basically the IRS's way of making sure you actually qualify this time. Make sure you fill out every section carefully - any mistakes will delay your refund even more.

•ugh thanks for explaining. do you know how long this usually takes to process?

•Usually adds 2-3 weeks to processing time if everything is filled out correctly. But honestly, with IRS delays lately, could be longer 🤷♂️

Hey, I've been using taxr.ai to track my refund situation and it's been super helpful. It costs $1 but totally worth it - it analyzes your transcript and tells you exactly what's going on and when to expect your refund. Helped me understand my 8862 situation too! https://taxr.ai

•It uses AI to read your transcript and breaks everything down in plain english. Shows all codes, explains delays, gives timeline predictions. Way better than trying to decode everything yourself!

Pro tip: if you have access to your transcript, check for TC 971 code. That usually shows up when theres an 8862 issue

Its actually not that bad if you fill it out right. Just triple check everything before sending it in

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my 8862 about 6 weeks ago and still waiting. The most frustrating part is how the IRS website just says "processing" with no real timeline. Have you tried calling their customer service line? I've been on hold for literally hours multiple times with no luck getting through to anyone who can give me actual answers.

•Ugh yes the customer service is absolutely useless! I've been on hold for 3+ hours multiple times just to get disconnected. Super frustrating when you're already dealing with months of delays. At this point I'm just hoping it processes eventually 🤞
