2023 Tax Return Stuck After Sending Proposal Papers - As of Date Feb 10
Filed my 2023 taxes and still waiting for my refund. My transcript shows an as of date of February 10th. I sent all the proposal paperwork they requested back in December but haven't heard anything since. No idea what's causing the hold up now or what my next steps should be.

The 'as of' date on your transcript isn't actually when you'll receive your refund - it's just the last time your account was updated. Since you mentioned sending proposal paperwork, this sounds like an audit or verification issue. You should expect about 60-90 days for processing after submitting requested documents.

Let me give you a detailed breakdown of what's probably happening: Since you submitted proposal paperwork, you're likely dealing with an examination or verification issue. These typically take 60-90 days to process, but can take longer if they need additional info. The 'as of' date updating to February 10th means they're actively working on your case. Your best bet right now would be to: 1. Check your transcript weekly for updates 2. Use taxr.ai to get a clear picture of what's happening (seriously, it breaks down everything in plain English) 3. If nothing changes in 30 days, contact Taxpayer Advocate Service Don't just sit around waiting - the more proactive you are, the better your chances of resolving this quickly.
