DFCS SNAP benefits approved but no payment date - Worker unresponsive and EBT address outdated
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my benefits situation. My case shows as approved, but I'm clueless about when I'll actually get the money. To make matters worse, my worker isn't picking up the phone, and my address on the EBT website isn't updated even though I changed it. Anyone else dealing with this mess? Any advice on how to get some answers?

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the phone, try faxing. I know it sounds ancient, but sometimes it works when nothing else does.

Faxing is definitely old school, but it still works because it's harder to ignore a physical paper than an email.

Yall ever think about how wild it is that we gotta jump through all these hoops just to get what we're entitled to? The system is rigged, I swear 😤

Hey, not sure if this applies to your situation, but I recently learned that some offices are doing virtual appointments now. Might be worth checking if that's an option for you. It's way easier than trying to get through on the phone!

Virtual appointments are a game-changer if available. Much more convenient than waiting on hold.

Ugh, I feel your pain. The system is so broken rn. I've been waiting for weeks to hear back about my case. Have you tried going to the office in person? Sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

Going in person can sometimes be the most effective way, but it's not always an option for everyone, especially with work or transportation issues.

Hey, quick question - did you double-check that your case number is correct on all your documents? I once had a similar issue and it turned out there was a typo in my case number. Might be worth looking into!

Typos can cause so much unnecessary delay. Always double-check to avoid simple issues.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video: https://youtu.be/Qx4Cyim0X48

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

Sounds sketchy. How do you know it's legit?

I get the skepticism, but I was desperate and it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta spend money to save time, ya know?

Claimyr is a legitimate service, but it's important to weigh the cost versus the benefit. For some, $20 is significant, but others might find the time saved is worth the investment.

To address your concerns: First, stay persistent and don't lose hope. You've already been given great advice, like keeping a log of all communications and trying every possible way to reach them, including fax and social media. Claimyr can indeed help bridge the gap in communication with government agencies. It's a valid option if you're desperate for time; however, it does come with a cost. Weigh the urgency of your need against the expense. Meanwhile, keep checking both the online portal and your physical mail for any updates, as sometimes critical information is sent via traditional mail even when your online details aren't updated. Lastly, consider reaching out to local advocacy groups who specialize in social services; they might have additional resources or contacts that can expedite the process. Remember, this is a systemic issue affecting many, and sometimes it takes a combination of tactics to get the resolution you need.

Have you tried the old "press 0 repeatedly" trick when you call? Sometimes it bypasses the whole menu system and gets you to a human faster. Worth a shot!

A classic trick! It's worked for me a few times when the automated system was too slow.

Have you tried reaching out on social media? Sometimes tweeting at the official account can get their attention. Worth a shot!

Social media can sometimes be a surprisingly effective way to get a response, especially if your post gets traction.

Bruh, the EBT website is a joke. I updated my address like 3 months ago and it still shows the old one. But I'm still getting benefits at my new place, so idk what's up with that 🤷♂️

That's a relief to hear. I was worried I might not get my benefits because of the wrong address.

Address discrepancies on government websites are frustratingly common. It's good that it's not affecting your benefits, but definitely keep monitoring it.

idk if this helps but I heard theres a new policy where they're supposed to process approved cases within 10 business days. might be worth mentioning if you get someone on the phone

Policies are great but they often don't account for backlog and resource constraints, unfortunately.

I had a similar issue last month. Here's what worked for me: 1. Document everything: Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and attempts to contact your worker. 2. Escalate: Ask to speak with a supervisor if your worker isn't responding. 3. Check your mail: Sometimes they send important info via snail mail even if your online account isn't updated. 4. Use the online portal: Keep checking for updates daily. 5. Contact your local representative: They can sometimes help push things along. Hope this helps! Hang in there, it's frustrating but you'll get through it.
