Requested DEO backdated weeks 3+ weeks ago but links never showed up in CONNECT - anyone else?

Completely frustrated with the backdating process right now! I submitted a request for backdated weeks through DEO almost a month ago (March 15th) but the links to claim these weeks NEVER appeared in my CONNECT portal. Thank god I took screenshots of my backdating request with the confirmation number! I'm an independent contractor/gig worker and also still waiting for my $825 paper check for the waiting week that was supposedly processed. The CONNECT dashboard shows nothing about my backdated weeks request status - just silence. Has anyone successfully gotten their backdated weeks to appear after requesting them? How long did it take? Did you have to call someone specific? This is literally thousands of dollars I'm counting on.

Did you end up getting it resolved or are you still waiting too? I'm about ready to lose it with this system.

The backdating process is notoriously slow right now. What you need to do is contact the DEO and specifically reference your backdating request with the confirmation number. The most effective way is to call and speak directly with a claims specialist who can manually check the status in their system - the CONNECT portal often doesn't update to show backdating requests. I had a similar issue in January where I waited 6 weeks with no links appearing. I finally got through to a claims specialist who told me my request was "stuck in processing" and they had to manually push it through. Three days later, all my backdated weeks appeared at once. Make sure you have documentation of your original claim dates, your confirmation number, and any proof that you were eligible during those backdated weeks.

"Call the DEO" lol good luck with that. I tried for TWO WEEKS straight and couldn't get through to anyone. Just busy signals and disconnects.

I had this EXACT problem last month!! It took SEVEN WEEKS before my backdated weeks suddenly appeared. The DEO is completely overwhelmed and understaffed. When I finally got through to someone, they told me there's a separate department that handles backdating requests and they have a massive backlog. The most frustrating part is there's no status updates or way to check where your request is in the queue. It just appears when it appears. RIDICULOUS system! However, I can confirm that when the weeks finally did show up, I was able to claim them all at once and got paid (although it took another 2 weeks for the money to actually arrive).

Seven weeks?! That's insane. I've already been waiting a month and I'm desperate for this money. Did you do anything specific to make your weeks finally appear, or did they just randomly show up one day?

They literally just showed up randomly one day when I logged in. No email, no notification, nothing. Check your account daily because they don't tell you when they appear and I think you only have limited time to claim them once they do show up.

There's currently a massive backlog with backdating requests. I'm a former DEO employee, and I can tell you that the system was never designed to handle the volume of backdating requests they're receiving. A few things to know: 1. Backdating requests go through multiple verification stages and are handled by a specialized team. 2. Independent contractors and self-employed individuals often face additional scrutiny because the system wasn't originally built for non-traditional employment types. 3. The waiting week payment is processed separately from regular unemployment and often comes as a paper check even if you have direct deposit set up. 4. Screenshots of your confirmation are critical - hold onto those! Your best course of action is to reach out directly to a claims specialist who can see the status of your backdating request in their internal system (not visible to you in CONNECT). They can sometimes flag requests that have been waiting excessive amounts of time.

Thank you for this insight! Do you know if there's a direct number or specific department I should ask for when calling? I've been trying the main line with no luck.

I finally managed to get through to DEO after trying for weeks using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They charge a fee but it's worth it if you're desperate to reach someone. They basically keep dialing for you and get you in the queue. I watched their demo video (https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj) and decided to try it after spending hours getting nowhere. When I finally got through, the agent told me my backdating request was actually approved but never properly processed in the system. They had to manually trigger something on their end, and my weeks appeared 48 hours later. Without that call, I'd probably still be waiting.

I've never heard of this service before. Did you have to provide them with any personal information? I'm desperate but also cautious about third-party services.

They don't need your DEO info or anything sensitive. It just connects you with DEO faster. You still talk directly to DEO agents for your claim issues. For me it was either use this or keep getting busy signals for weeks.

Anybody telling you there's a "normal" timeline for backdated weeks is LYING. The DEO backdate system is completely BROKEN. I requested backdated weeks in February and they STILL haven't appeared. Meanwhile my neighbor requested hers and got them in TWO WEEKS. The DEO is deliberately making this process difficult hoping people will give up. They don't want to pay us what we're owed!!! Their phone system is designed to be impossible to get through. Their "online system" is from 1995. And their "agents" give different answers every time you call. I've filed a complaint with my state representative because this is RIDICULOUS!!!!!

Quick update on something important I just discovered: there's apparently a difference between "requesting backpay" and "backdated weeks appearing in CONNECT." I spoke with a claims specialist yesterday who explained that after your backdating request is approved, there's a separate process to make the weeks available in your CONNECT portal. These are handled by different departments. So your request might be approved but stuck in the second stage. That's why calling and having someone check the internal system is so important - they can see where exactly your request is stuck and potentially move it forward. Also, make sure you're checking for backdated weeks under the "Claim Weeks" section, not just on your main dashboard. Sometimes they appear there without any notification.

This is incredibly helpful information! I've been checking the main dashboard but not specifically under "Claim Weeks." I'll start looking there too. Did the specialist tell you how long the second stage typically takes after approval?

They said it should be 5-7 business days after approval, but with the current backlog it's taking 3-4 weeks in many cases. Definitely check both places daily.

i had this problem too... my backdating request from january never showed up. i called DEO like 50 times and nobody could help. then i went to my local CareerSource office and talked to someone there who actually called DEO with me sitting there. we got through to someone who fixed it on the spot. try going to CareerSource in person, they have direct lines sometimes.

This is a great suggestion! I didn't even think of going to CareerSource. I'll try that this week.

My sister-in-law works at DEO and says they're literally working through a stack of over 40,000 backdating requests right now. They're prioritizing them by date submitted but also by certain "hardship factors" so it's not strictly first come first served. She said the best thing you can do is call and specifically ask them to check if your request has any "blocks" or "issues flagged" that might be preventing it from moving forward.

40,000?!?! No wonder it takes forever. System is broken

Quick question - when you submitted your backdating request, did you get an email confirmation or just the confirmation number on the screen? I'm wondering if there's a way to check if the request was actually received properly in their system.

I only got the confirmation number on screen which is why I took screenshots. Never received an email confirmation. The whole process feels so insecure and unprofessional.

Update from my experience: After talking with a DEO specialist yesterday about my backdating situation (similar to yours), I learned that sometimes your backdated weeks can be approved but still not show up if you have any open "fact-finding" investigations or "pending issues" on your account. The specialist I spoke with suggested checking the "Determination, Pending Issues and Decision Summary" section of CONNECT to see if there are any open items that might be holding up your backdated weeks. If there are, resolving those first can sometimes trigger the release of your backdated weeks. Hope this helps someone!

I just checked and I do have something under "Pending Issues" from months ago that I thought was resolved! I bet that's what's holding things up. Thank you so much for this tip.
