DEO retroactive payments stuck in limbo - anyone know a working phone number?

I'm at my wits end trying to get my retroactive weeks processed! Been fighting with DEO since January to backdate my claim to November 15th. They assured me they submitted the request and it would take 2-3 weeks MAX. Well, it's been 8 weeks now with absolutely nothing happening. The worst part is I can't even talk to anyone about it! I've been calling the main number (833-352-7759) daily for the past two weeks. When I select the option to speak with a representative, it connects me and then immediately drops the call. Every. Single. Time. Does ANYONE have another working number to reach an actual human at DEO? Or some secret backdoor method? I've sent emails through the CONNECT portal, tried calling at different times (6:30am, 11am, 3pm), and I'm getting desperate. Bills are piling up, and I need those retroactive payments that I'm eligible for. The last agent I managed to speak with (before this phone nightmare started) told me "just wait one more week" - that was over a month ago! Any suggestions would be deeply appreciated!

i had the exct same issue last month!! the 833 number is completly useless, they hang up on EVERYONE. the system is rigged to prevent us from getting our $$$. after 6 weeks of trying i finaly got through by calling my local CareerSource office (lookup ur local one) and they have direct lines to DEO people. told them my situation and they helped escalate my backdating issue. took another 2 weeks but finaly saw movement on my account. dont give up!!!

Thank you so much! I didn't even think about contacting CareerSource. Will look up my local office right now. Did they require any specific information when you called them? And did the backdating finally go through correctly for you?

The backdate request system is completely broken right now. They told me 3-4 weeks for my change too, and I ended up waiting nearly 3 months before anything happened. And I was only trying to backdate by 2 weeks! Try emailing Vanessa.Brito@yahoo.com - she's a community advocate who sometimes can help escalate these issues. Include your claimant ID and full details.

This Vanessa person helped my cousin too but I heard she's overwhelmed with requests now so responses take forever. Worth trying though!

I was in a similar situation and finally found a solution that worked after weeks of frustration. I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to a DEO agent - it basically calls for you and holds your place in line, then calls you back when an agent is available. Saved me from the constant disconnects and busy signals. They have a demo video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj Once I got through to an agent, I explained that my backdate request had been pending for over a month and asked them to escalate it to a supervisor. The agent was able to see my previous request in the system and put in an "urgent review" tag. My effective date was changed within 3 business days after that call. Might be worth trying if you're desperate to get this resolved.

This sounds promising! I'm definitely going to check out that service. Did you have to provide any special information to get them to expedite your request? I'm willing to try anything at this point since my bills aren't waiting for DEO to get their act together.

Just make sure you have your claimant ID, the date you originally requested the backdate, and the name of the agent who told you it would be processed (if you remember it). I also had screenshots of my CONNECT messages showing my original request date which seemed to help my case. Good luck!

The backdating processes r so broken lol.... they told me 2-3 weeks too and it took FIVE MONTHS!!!! no joke!! and then when they finally changed my date they only paid me for 4 of the 7 weeks i was eligible for. when i called to ask why they said "thats all u get" and hung up. this system is designed to fail us.

That's terrible! Did you ever get those missing 3 weeks? I'm worried they'll do the same to me even if I do get through to someone.

There are a few things to understand about backdating requests that might help you: 1. The standard processing time is indeed 3-4 weeks, but since January 2025, DEO has been experiencing significant backlogs due to system upgrades. 2. When you call the main number and get disconnected, it's usually because all representatives are busy - the system is supposed to offer a callback option but it's frequently malfunctioning. 3. For backdating specifically, you need to make sure your request contains clear documentation of why you were unable to file during those earlier weeks. Without this, they often silently deny requests. 4. The most effective approach is having your request escalated to a Tier 2 adjudicator. Regular agents cannot process backdating beyond 2 weeks. I'd recommend: - Call 833-352-7759 but select the option for PIN resets first (option 5), then ask that agent to transfer you to claims assistance - Email RA.BackdateRequest@deo.myflorida.com with your claimant ID in the subject line - Contact your state representative's office - they have special DEO liaison contacts Hope this helps!

This is incredibly helpful information - thank you! I didn't realize there were different tiers of adjudicators or that I needed to provide documentation for why I couldn't file earlier. I'll try the PIN reset trick tomorrow morning and see if I can get transferred to someone who can help. I appreciate the detailed explanation!

I went through something similar trying to get my claim backdated to October. The waiting game is horrible! After getting nowhere for weeks, I finally contacted my state representative's office. Their staff has dedicated DEO contacts that regular claimants don't have access to. Within 48 hours of contacting my rep's office, I got a call from a DEO supervisor who processed my backdate request on the spot. Find your Florida state rep here: https://www.myfloridahouse.gov/findyourrepresentative When you contact them, be clear, concise, and include your claimant ID, the date you're trying to backdate to, and mention how long you've been waiting. They're genuinely helpful for these situations.

Thank you for this suggestion! Just found my representative and sent an email with all my details. Fingers crossed they can help. Did you have to follow up with your rep's office at all or did they handle everything after that initial contact?

Their aide called me the next day to confirm they received my info and to let me know they'd submitted an inquiry to DEO. Then two days later I got the call directly from DEO. It was surprisingly efficient!

Have you checked if your CONNECT account shows any pending adjudication issues? Sometimes backdating gets stuck because of an unresolved issue on your claim that needs to be fixed first. Go to your homepage and check for anything saying "pending" or "adjudication" - might explain the delay.

I just double-checked my CONNECT account and you're right - there's a pending adjudication issue listed that I hadn't noticed before! It says "Effective Date Dispute" with a status of "Pending DEO Action." At least now I know it's in their system, but still no way to get anyone to look at it.

Quick update on what's been happening with retroactive payments in Florida: DEO announced last month they're processing backdating requests in batches based on filing date. If your request was submitted in January, you're likely in the batch scheduled for processing in mid-April. They're severely understaffed in the department that handles backdating. One thing that might help - check your CONNECT inbox daily. Often they'll send a fact-finding questionnaire about your backdating request without any notification. If you miss responding to this within 7 days, they automatically deny the request and you have to start over.

That explains a lot! I haven't been checking my CONNECT inbox regularly - only my email. Going to log in right now to make sure I haven't missed anything. Thank you for this information about the batching process too - gives me some timeline to work with rather than just waiting indefinitely.

btw dont bother with the contact form on the DEO website. complete blackhole - ive sent like 9 messages there about my backdating issue and never got ONE single response. total waste of time!!!
