Final DEO claim stuck on 'pending' when previous ones paid next day - what's up?

So frustrating! I just submitted my final claim weeks yesterday for my regular unemployment benefits (after 12 weeks of claiming), and it's still showing as 'pending' in CONNECT. Every other time I've claimed weeks, the payment has processed by the next day and hit my account within 48 hours max. Since this is my last eligible claim payment, I'm worried something's wrong. The claim status just says 'pending' with no additional information. No pending issues are listed in my account either. Has anyone experienced longer processing times for their final benefit payment? I'm getting anxious because I have rent due next week and was counting on this final payment coming through on the normal schedule.

This happened to me back in March! My last payment took 4 days longer than all my previous ones. I think they do some kind of extra review on final payments before releasing them. As long as you don't have any adjudication issues or fact-finding questionnaires showing in your account, it should process. Did you do all 5 work searches for each week? That's usually what holds things up if there's a problem.

Thanks for responding! Yes, I definitely did all 5 work searches for each week and documented everything correctly. Nothing looks different in my account from previous weeks when payments went through normally. No adjudication issues or fact-finding showing up. I just thought it was weird that specifically my LAST payment would take longer. Hopefully it's just an extra review like you mentioned!

The DEO system triggers an automatic review on final benefit payments as part of their fraud prevention measures. It's completely normal for the last payment to take 3-5 business days rather than the usual 1-2 days. This happens because they verify that you've properly exhausted your benefit amount and that there aren't any outstanding issues before closing out your claim. The status should change from "pending" to "processed" within the next couple of days unless there's an actual issue they need to resolve.

I wish theyd tell us that somewhere!!! spent 3 hrs panicking when my last payment didnt show up. ended up coming thru 4 days later no explanation

DONT COUNT ON IT COMING WHEN U NEED IT!!!! My final payment took 3 WEEKS to process because they randomly decided to put my account in adjudication for "potentially unreported earnings" even though I reported EVERYTHING correctly every single week!!! Had to call them 37 TIMES before I finally got through to someone who could help. The DEO LOVES to hold your final payment hostage - they know its your last one so they don't care if they make you wait. The whole system is designed to frustrate people!!!

Oh no, that sounds awful! Now I'm really worried. Did you end up having to provide additional documentation or anything? I've been super careful about reporting everything correctly, but now I'm scared they'll find some random reason to hold my final payment.

I had to upload my last 3 months of bank statements AND a letter from my previous employer confirming my last day worked. Total BS because they already HAD all that information!!! Just be prepared to fight for what's rightfully yours. The DEO treats everyone like we're criminals.

That's reassuring, thanks! Hoping mine follows the same pattern and isn't stuck for weeks.

If anyone is having trouble getting through to DEO about pending payments, I finally had success using Claimyr (claimyr.com). After two weeks of endless busy signals and disconnects trying to reach someone about my final payment being stuck, I gave up and tried this service. They got me through to a live agent in about 20 minutes who was able to see that my claim just needed manual approval since it was my final payment. You can see how it works in their video demo: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj - totally worth it for the peace of mind rather than stressing for days wondering what's happening.

Thank you for the suggestion! If mine doesn't update in the next couple days, I might try this. It would be worth it to know what's actually going on rather than just seeing "pending" with no explanation.

is this legit?? sounds sketchy

It's definitely legit. They don't access your DEO account or anything - they just connect you with a DEO agent on the phone. I was skeptical too but I was desperate after two weeks of trying to call myself with no luck.

My situation was kinda similar but ended up being a problem - after submitting my final weeks, they stayed pending because I had accidentally gone over my maximum benefit amount. I had misunderstood how much I had left. Maybe double-check your monetary determination letter and count up all the payments you've received so far to make sure you still have the full amount available for your last claim? Just a thought!

That's actually a really good point! I just checked my monetary determination letter and did the math... I should still have exactly enough for this final payment, so I don't think that's the issue. But I appreciate the suggestion - that's something I wouldn't have thought to verify!

Just checking back - did your payment go through yet? Sometimes the CONNECT system does maintenance on Wednesdays that delays processing for 24 hours too.

It just changed from "pending" to "processed" about an hour ago! What a relief. Should hit my account tomorrow if it follows the usual timeline. Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions. And you were right about the extra review for final payments!

hey guys i have a kinda related question - if I get a job but it doesn't start for 3 weeks do I still claim those weeks or does my claim end when I accept the offer even if I'm not getting paid yet??

You should continue claiming weeks until you actually start working. Your eligibility is based on when you're earning wages, not when you accept an offer. Make sure to report the job offer in your work search activities, but keep claiming until your first day of work. Congratulations on the new job!

Glad to hear your payment finally went through! This is actually pretty common - I've seen this happen to several people with their final payments. The DEO does seem to put extra scrutiny on the last payment, probably to make sure everything adds up correctly before they close out your claim. For anyone else reading this who might be in a similar situation, just keep checking your account daily and try not to panic if it takes a few extra days. The system usually works itself out, it's just nerve-wracking when you're depending on that money!

This is so helpful to know! I'm actually approaching my final few weeks of benefits and was already starting to worry about whether my last payment would process normally. It's good to hear that the extra delay is standard procedure and not necessarily a sign that something's wrong. Thanks for sharing this insight - it'll save me (and probably others) a lot of unnecessary stress when the time comes!
