DEO 'terminated employee verification' holding up all 10 weeks of my benefits - normal wait time?
I was let go from my sales position back in February and immediately filed for unemployment. Since then, I've claimed 10 weeks of my 12 allowed weeks and HAVEN'T RECEIVED A SINGLE PAYMENT! My claim status shows 'pending-adjudication' this whole time. When I finally got through to a DEO rep yesterday (after 17 call attempts), they told me that 'everyone' who claims they were terminated has to go through this verification process and long wait. Is this actually true?? I'm checking my bank account literally every morning and it's crushing my spirit. I've burned through all my savings and am borrowing money from family just to keep my lights on. How is this even legal to make people wait this long?

Its NOT true that everyone waits this long. somethings wrong with ur claim. I was terminated too and only waited 3 weeks b4 payments started. call back and get a diffrent agent, that 1 is just making excuses.

•Thanks for the reality check. I was starting to believe it was normal! I'll try calling again tomorrow. Did you have to do anything special to get your payments started?

The DEO agent wasn't being entirely honest with you. When you're terminated, your employer has 20 days to dispute your claim or provide their side of the termination story. However, even if they do dispute it, your claim should move through adjudication within 4-6 weeks in most cases. Since you've been waiting 10+ weeks, something is likely holding up your specific claim - perhaps a fact-finding issue that needs addressing or something your former employer submitted that triggered additional review. Check your CONNECT inbox and "Determination, Pending Issue and Decision Summary" section for any items requiring your response. Sometimes there are questionnaires or fact-finding interviews needed that you might have missed notifications for.

•Thank you, this is really helpful! I just checked and there IS a fact-finding questionnaire that somehow I missed from 3 weeks ago. It's about details of my termination. Would this be why everything is on hold?

Yes, that's absolutely why your payments are on hold! Complete that questionnaire ASAP. The adjudication process can't proceed until they have your response. Once you submit it, call DEO the next day to confirm they received it and ask them to expedite your adjudication since it's been pending for so long.

•I just completed and submitted it! Thank you so much. Now I need to figure out how to actually get through to a live person at DEO tomorrow to follow up.

same boat! terminated in january, 8 weeks of claims, $0 received. DEO tells me something different every time I call. one says "just wait" next says "needs manual review" another says "system glitch" its such BS!!!! how are we supposed to survive?

•It feels like they're trained to just get us off the phone sometimes! Check your CONNECT account for any missed fact-finding forms - that's what was holding mine up apparently.

Listen, if you need to get through to DEO quickly, try using Claimyr. I was in the same boat - couldn't get through for weeks and my claim wasn't moving. Claimyr actually calls DEO for you and connects you directly to an agent when they answer. Saved me days of constant redialing. Their website is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj Once I got through to an actual adjudicator (not just the first-level rep), they were able to see that my fact-finding form had been submitted but was stuck in their system. They manually pushed it through and my payments started the following week.

•does this actually work? i tried calling 43 times yesterday and never got past the busy signal

Yes, it really works. I was super skeptical too, but after trying to call DEO myself for almost 2 weeks straight (busy signals or disconnected after 2+ hours on hold), I was desperate. The service got me through to an agent in about 25 minutes. Just make sure when you do get through, you ask specifically for an adjudicator or someone who can check on the status of pending adjudication - the regular reps often can't do much.

•I'm going to try this tomorrow. At this point I'll try anything to get this resolved. I'll update everyone on whether it works for me or not.

My brother had this same issue but it turns out his former employer was fighting his claim. They told the DEO he was fired for misconduct (which wasn't true). Took 14 weeks to resolve but he eventually got ALL his backpay at once. Almost $7,000! So if your case is legitimate don't lose hope.

•Just wanted to add - if your employer is contesting the termination, make sure you have documentation ready! Emails, performance reviews, anything showing you weren't fired for misconduct. I had to submit 5 different documents during my adjudication. The DEO fact-finding process is VERY thorough when termination is involved.

UPDATE: I used Claimyr this morning and actually got through to DEO in about 30 minutes! The agent confirmed they received my fact-finding form and said my claim should be reviewed within 5-7 business days. She also added a note to expedite it since it's been pending so long. Thanks everyone for your help - especially the tip about checking my CONNECT inbox more carefully. Will update again when (hopefully) payments start coming through.

•Great news! One more tip: if you don't see movement in 7 days, call again and ask to speak specifically with an adjudicator. Regular agents often don't have the authority to push claims through, but adjudicators can make determination decisions on the spot in many cases. And keep claiming your weeks on schedule even while waiting.

Sorry but i gotta ask this - did you answer "No" to the question about being able and available to work on any of your weekly claims? That's an automatic flag for adjudication. My cousin had this issue and didnt realize she was answering wrong for weeks.

•I don't think so? I'm pretty sure I answered that I was available and looking for work each time. But now I'm second-guessing myself. I'll double check my answers on the next claim.

•That's usually an ID.me verification issue. Your CONNECT account might not be fully linked to your ID.me account. Try going through the ID.me verification process again from the main DEO login page. Florida's system is notorious for these random disconnections between the two systems.

FINAL UPDATE: My claim was approved today!!! All 10 weeks will be paid this Friday according to the determination letter I received. The DEO rep I spoke with said the fact-finding form was indeed what was holding everything up. For anyone else stuck in adjudication - definitely check for any pending items in your CONNECT inbox, and don't believe it when they tell you these extreme delays are "normal" for everyone. Thank you all for the support and advice!
