Are DEO offices open today? Can't get through on the Florida unemployment hotline
Does anyone know if the Florida DEO offices are open today? I've been trying to call for 3 hours about my CONNECT account showing 'pending adjudication' since February, and either get a busy signal or it hangs up automatically. I'm desperate to talk to someone about my claim - bills are piling up and I need to know if there's something wrong with my application. Would driving to a physical location help? I'm in Tampa area and willing to drive if I could actually speak to someone face-to-face instead of this phone nightmare.

The DEO doesn't actually have physical offices where you can just walk in and talk to someone about your claim. They operate through the CONNECT system and phone support. The CareerSource centers can sometimes help with basic unemployment questions, but they can't access your specific claim details or fix problems. For reaching the DEO by phone, normal business hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-6:00pm. They're definitely closed on weekends and state holidays. If today is a weekday and not a holiday, they should be open, but getting through is another story entirely...

•Thanks for the info. It's Monday so they should be open, but I've called like 40 times today. This is ridiculous! Is there ANY way to actually talk to a human being?

•I'm in the same situation right now! Been calling for 2 weeks every single day, my claim has been on hold since Jan 28th. This is absolutely criminal how they treat people who are already struggling!

If you need to speak with someone at DEO, I highly recommend trying Claimyr. It's a service that actually calls DEO for you and when they get through to an agent, they connect the call to your phone. I was skeptical at first but after 3 weeks of failing to reach anyone, I tried it and got through to a DEO agent in about 40 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj Their website is claimyr.com - it seriously saved me so much frustration with my adjudication issue.

•Really? I've never heard of this before. Seems like it might be worth a try since nothing else is working. Did they actually help resolve your issue when you finally got through?

The DEO is technically "open" today but their phone system is deliberately designed to prevent most people from reaching an agent. I've been dealing with Florida unemployment for years (sadly, seasonal work), and it's ALWAYS this way. Even if you somehow get through, half the agents don't know how to help with adjudication issues anyway. They just tell you to "wait" which is complete BS. Meanwhile they're sitting on our claims for MONTHS while we can't pay bills. The whole system needs to be investigated. It was designed to fail so Florida can brag about how few people get benefits!

•I agree 100%. It's absolutely infuriating. I've worked and paid taxes in Florida for 15 years, and the one time I needed help after being laid off, the system is deliberately made to be impossible to navigate. They're counting on people giving up out of frustration.

have u tried emailing them? sometimes that works better than calling. use DEOclaimantassistance@deo.myflorida.com and put URGENT ADJUDICATION in the subject line. it worked 4 me last month when my claim was stuck.

Just to clarify some info here - yes, DEO is open Monday-Friday except for holidays. To check on adjudication issues specifically, calling is actually your best option despite the frustration. For those stuck in adjudication, here's what you need to know: 1. Adjudication means there's a conflict in your application that needs to be resolved (could be employment dates, earnings reported, separation reason, etc.) 2. The average wait for adjudication is currently 4-8 weeks (which is terrible but reality) 3. You SHOULD continue claiming weeks during adjudication 4. Once resolved, you'll get a "determination" letter in your CONNECT inbox If your claim has been in adjudication more than 8 weeks, that's when you definitely need to speak with someone directly.

•Thank you for this detailed info. I had no idea adjudication could take 4-8 weeks! My claim has only been in this status for about 5 weeks, so maybe I need to be more patient. I'll keep claiming weeks and try that Claimyr service someone mentioned if I hit the 8 week mark. This waiting game is just so stressful when you have bills to pay.

After trying for weeks to get through on the phone, I finally used Claimyr (that service someone mentioned) and was connected to a DEO agent within an hour. The agent was able to see exactly what was holding up my adjudication - turned out my previous employer contested my claim saying I quit when I was actually laid off. The agent escalated it and my determination came through 5 days later! Sometimes you really do need to speak to someone directly to get these issues resolved. The website at claimyr.com was super easy to use too.

•That's exactly what happened to me! My employer falsely claimed I quit voluntarily when they actually eliminated my position. DEO just sits on these disputed claims for MONTHS unless you manage to get through to someone who can actually look at your file. The whole system is designed to deny people benefits they're entitled to.

For what it's worth, I just called right now (2:15pm) and actually got through after only 9 attempts! So they are definitely open today. The agent told me they're experiencing extremely high call volume this week because a bunch of new claims from seasonal tourist industry layoffs just hit the system. She suggested trying to call first thing in the morning (7:30am) for the best chance of getting through.

•Wow, that's actually helpful to know! Maybe I'll try again at 7:30 tomorrow morning. Did you do anything special to get through or just keep hitting redial?

I just kept redialing, but I also made sure to select the right options in the phone menu. Don't press 1 for general information - that goes to a different department. Press 2 for specific claim questions, then 4 for existing claims. That route gets you to the agents who can actually help with adjudication issues. And definitely keep claiming your weeks while waiting! If your claim is approved, you'll get backpay for all properly claimed weeks during the adjudication period.

•Thank you so much! I've been pressing 1 this whole time thinking that was the right option. I'll try your suggestion with the correct menu options tomorrow morning. Really appreciate the help!

I feel your frustration! I went through the exact same thing last year when my claim was stuck in adjudication for 2 months. The DEO offices are technically open today (Monday-Friday, 7:30am-6pm), but like others mentioned, there are no walk-in locations where you can get help with claims. A few things that helped me: 1. Try calling right at 7:30am - that's when I finally got through after weeks of trying 2. Use the correct phone menu options (press 2, then 4) - don't press 1 for general info 3. Keep claiming your weeks even while in adjudication status - you'll get backpay if approved The "pending adjudication" usually means there's some kind of dispute or missing information they need to verify. In my case, it was an issue with my separation date that my employer reported incorrectly. Once I got through to an agent, they were able to see the problem and escalate it for review. Hang in there - I know it's incredibly stressful when bills are piling up, but don't give up on claiming what you're entitled to!

•Thank you for sharing your experience! It's really encouraging to hear from someone who actually got through this process successfully. I'm definitely going to try calling at exactly 7:30am tomorrow with the correct menu options (2, then 4). Two months in adjudication sounds awful, but at least you eventually got it resolved. Did you end up getting all your backpay once they approved your claim? I'm worried they might try to deny some of the weeks I've been claiming during this waiting period.

I'm dealing with the same exact situation right now - been trying to reach DEO for weeks about my pending adjudication status. Based on what everyone's shared here, I'm going to try calling tomorrow at 7:30am sharp using the correct menu options (press 2, then 4). Has anyone had success with that Claimyr service that was mentioned? I'm getting desperate enough to try anything at this point. The stress of not knowing what's wrong with my claim while bills keep coming is overwhelming. It's ridiculous that we have to resort to third-party services just to reach our own state unemployment office! Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences - it helps to know I'm not alone in this nightmare, even though I wouldn't wish this frustration on anyone.

•I totally understand your frustration - I'm in a similar boat with my claim stuck in adjudication since early February. From what I've read in this thread, it sounds like the early morning calling strategy (7:30am with menu options 2, then 4) is worth trying. Several people here seem to have had success with that approach. I'm also considering the Claimyr service that @Evelyn Xu and @Sophia Russo mentioned. At this point, if it can actually get me connected to a real person who can look at my file, it might be worth it. The stress of not knowing what s holding'up my claim is honestly affecting my sleep and mental health. Thanks for posting - it does help to know we re all'going through this together, even though the system is clearly broken. Let me know if the early morning calling works for you tomorrow!

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! My claim has been stuck in "pending adjudication" since mid-February and I've been calling every single day for the past two weeks with no luck. The phone system either gives me a busy signal or just hangs up automatically after a few rings. Based on all the helpful advice in this thread, I'm definitely going to try calling tomorrow at exactly 7:30am using the correct menu path (press 2, then 4 instead of 1). It's so frustrating that we have to strategize just to reach our own state's unemployment office! I'm also seriously considering that Claimyr service that several people mentioned. If it can actually get me connected to a real DEO agent who can look at my specific case, it might be worth trying. At this point I'm willing to try anything - the uncertainty of not knowing what's wrong with my application is causing me so much stress on top of the financial pressure. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and tips. It really helps to know I'm not the only one dealing with this broken system, even though I wouldn't wish this frustration on anyone!
