DEO keeps disconnecting my calls - Need account reset ASAP

Super frustrated with Florida DEO right now. I've been locked out of my CONNECT account for over 2 weeks after I changed my phone number and can't receive the verification code. Every single time I call the 1-800 number, I get the 'high call volume' message and it hangs up on me! I've tried calling at 7:30am, during lunch, and even right before closing - same result every time! I need someone to help reset my account so I can claim my weeks before they expire. Has anyone successfully gotten through to a real person lately? What time or method worked for you? I'm desperate and bills are piling up.

I was in the exact same situation last month after I set up a new email and couldn't access my old one for the verification code. What worked for me was using Claimyr to get through to a DEO agent. It's a service that basically holds your place in line and calls you back when they have an agent. I was skeptical at first but they got me through to someone in about 45 minutes instead of endless disconnects. Here's their site: claimyr.com and there's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj

Thanks for this! Never heard of Claimyr before. Did they actually help with the account reset when you got through? I'm worried I'll finally reach someone who can't actually help me.

Ugh, 3 weeks with no email response is ridiculous! Did you ever get your issue resolved? I'm starting to panic since I have bills due next week.

There are a few ways to get your account reset with DEO: 1. If you're near a CareerSource office, go in person. They have direct lines to DEO and can often help with account resets. 2. Try emailing DEO.Records@deo.myflorida.com with your claimant ID (if you know it), full name, last 4 of SSN, and date of birth. Put "URGENT: CONNECT Account Reset Needed" in the subject line. 3. Call right at 7:29am, not 7:30. The system opens at 7:30 but the queue starts filling slightly before. I used to work for DEO and this small trick often works. 4. If you have any pending weeks that are going to expire, make sure to mention that in any communication - it flags your case as time-sensitive. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much for these detailed tips! I'll try the 7:29am call tomorrow, and if that doesn't work, I'll head to the CareerSource office. Really appreciate the email address too - I'll send them a message tonight just in case.

I had something similar happen but my issue was with ID.me not CONNECT login. Have you tried the forgot password option? Sometimes that works to bypass the phone verification step.

The forgot password option doesn't work if the issue is with the two-factor authentication. When you change phone numbers, DEO's system still tries to send the verification code to your old number, and there's no self-service way to update that in CONNECT. I went through this in February and could only resolve it by speaking with an agent. Unfortunately, the email method doesn't work for 2FA resets either - they require voice verification for security reasons.

THE WHOLE DEO SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO MAKE YOU GIVE UP!!! They hang up on purpose to reduce their workload. I've been dealing with them for MONTHS trying to get my account unlocked and I'm still waiting. Sent 6 emails, called over 40 times, even had my state rep contact them. All I got was a generic email saying "your case is being reviewed" THREE WEEKS AGO. Meanwhile I can't pay my electric bill and might lose my apartment. Florida DEO is a JOKE!!!

calm down, they're just understaffed. my cousin works there and says they get thousands of calls a day. not everything is a conspiracy against claimants

I think there might be some confusion about the different types of account issues. There are three separate problems that people mix up: 1. CONNECT account lockout (happens after too many failed login attempts) 2. Two-factor authentication problems (when you change phone numbers like OP) 3. ID.me verification issues (separate from CONNECT but required for benefits) Based on your description, you're dealing with #2, which unfortunately requires speaking with a DEO agent. The reset request email works for #1 but not #2. So your best options are: 1. Visit a CareerSource office in person 2. Use a call service like someone mentioned above 3. Keep trying the 1-800 number using the 7:29am trick Once you do reach someone, write down their ID number in case you need to reference the call later.

Thanks for clarifying! Definitely #2 - my CONNECT login works but then it tries to send a verification code to my old number. Really helpful to know the email won't work for this specific issue.

Thanks for the specific time suggestion! I'll definitely try Tuesday at 2:30 if my morning attempts don't work out.

To answer your question from earlier - yes, when I got through using Claimyr, the agent was able to help with my account reset. They verified my identity with some questions and updated my contact info in the system. Just make sure you have your claim ID, SSN, and some proof of identity ready when they call. The whole process took about 10 minutes once I actually got an agent on the line.

That's reassuring to hear they could actually help! I've had my ID, SSN card, and driver's license ready by my phone for days just in case I get through. I'm going to try the early morning call tomorrow, but if that doesn't work I might try the Claimyr route. Thanks again!

UPDATE: I finally got through! For anyone with the same problem - I used the 7:29am trick mentioned above AND called on Tuesday instead of Monday (which seems less busy). Was on hold for 45 minutes but finally spoke to someone who reset my two-factor authentication and connected it to my new phone number. All fixed now and I was able to claim my weeks that were pending! Thanks everyone for your help!

Great news! Glad you got it resolved. Don't forget to set up your work search record for the weeks you're claiming. DEO has been doing more random audits of work search activities lately.
