8 weeks stuck in DEO adjudication with no progress - need case manager contact info

I'm at my wits' end trying to get my unemployment claim resolved. I've been stuck in adjudication for 8 WEEKS due to a 'discharge' issue from my previous employer (restaurant suddenly closed without warning). My CONNECT account shows the same status day after day, and I've now had TWO so-called "escalations" with zero movement. The last DEO rep I spoke with literally told me 'your case is in the queue but hasn't been assigned to a case manager yet.' EIGHT WEEKS and it hasn't even been LOOKED AT?? Has anyone successfully tracked down direct contact info for adjudication case managers? Email addresses? Extension numbers? Anything? I'm about to be evicted and my car payment is 45 days past due. I've tried calling the regular DEO number about 30 times and either get disconnected or told they can't do anything but put in another "escalation" (which clearly does nothing). Any advice would be seriously appreciated.

in the exct same boat, discharged too from retail. Been stuck 7 weeks no movement. Called every day last week and the system just hangs up on u after the automated message. this is so messed up

It's absolutely ridiculous. Have you tried going to a CareerSource office in person? Someone told me they sometimes have direct lines to DEO but when I went to my local one they said they couldn't help with adjudication issues.

I successfully got my discharge adjudication resolved after 9 weeks of waiting. The key was getting through to a Tier 2 representative who could actually see detailed notes on my claim. Regular reps just see the same basic info we can see on CONNECT. You need to specifically ask for your call to be transferred to a claims specialist or supervisor when you get through. Be polite but firm that regular escalations haven't worked and you need someone who can review the current status of your adjudication in detail. Also, make sure you've properly responded to any fact-finding questionnaires in your CONNECT inbox. Sometimes they send these and don't notify you by email, so you have to check your inbox daily. Missing these deadlines can restart your entire adjudication process.

Thank you for this detailed advice! The problem is I can't even get a human on the phone to ask for a transfer to Tier 2. I've checked my CONNECT inbox obsessively and responded to everything immediately. There's been nothing new in weeks. How did you actually get through to a real person?

I was stuck in adjudication for 12 weeks last year for the same reason (discharge). The DEO is completely overwhelmed and understaffed. My claim was finally approved but only after I reached out to my state representative's office. They have constituent services staff who can contact DEO directly through special channels. Google your FL state rep, call their office, and ask for help with your unemployment claim. They might ask you to fill out a release form so they can inquire about your case. This worked for me when nothing else did.

I hadn't thought of contacting my state rep! That's a great idea. Did you just call their regular office number? How long did it take after they got involved?

Yes, just called the main office number and explained my situation. They emailed me a form to sign, and about 10 days later I got a call from an actual DEO adjudicator. My claim was approved 3 days after that. Much faster than waiting in the regular queue!

If you need to speak with a DEO agent urgently, I'd recommend trying Claimyr. It's a service that helps you get through to DEO representatives without the endless busy signals and hangups. I was in adjudication for weeks and getting nowhere until I used them. Basically, they place the call for you and when they get through to a representative, they connect you. I was skeptical but it worked within an hour. Once I got connected to a rep, I asked for a supervisor who could tell me exactly what was happening with my claim. You can see how it works at https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj or go to claimyr.com. Just make sure once you're connected that you ask specifically about the status of adjudication and request to speak with a claims specialist or adjudicator. Regular agents have limited access.

Thanks for the suggestion. At this point I'm desperate enough to try anything. Those videos look legit. Did you actually get your adjudication resolved after getting through or just more promises of "escalation"?

When I finally got through to a tier 2 rep (had to specifically ask for one), they were able to see that my employer hadn't responded to the DEO's request for information, which was what was causing the delay. The rep submitted a request to proceed with adjudication without the employer's input since they'd exceeded the response timeframe. My claim was approved about 10 days later.

I'm sorry your going through this nightmare!! The system is BROKEN by design I swear. After waiting 11 weeks in adjucation last fall I finally gave up and took a min wage job even though I should of qualified for benefits. The DEO is a joke and they don't care about regular people AT ALL!!!! They just hope you'll give up and stop claiming. I never did get my benefits even after all that waiting. The whole system is designed to DENY as many people as possible!!!

While I understand your frustration, the system isn't actually designed to deny claims. It's just severely understaffed and running on outdated technology. The DEO is currently processing a high volume of claims with limited resources. To the original poster: One thing that might help is to look at your determination letters in CONNECT to make sure there isn't a specific issue holding up your claim. Sometimes they need additional documentation but don't make it clear. Also, when you do get through to someone on the phone, make sure to get a reference number for the call and the representative's ID number. This creates a paper trail that can be useful if you need to escalate further.

Something else to try: send an email to DEOclientadvocate@deo.myflorida.com with your claimant ID number, the last 4 of your SSN, and a brief explanation of your situation. Be super polite and professional in your email. I've seen this work for some people when they're stuck in adjudication for extended periods. Also, make sure your work search records are perfect and up-to-date while you wait. If they do finally resolve your adjudication in your favor, they'll check your work search compliance before releasing payments. You don't want to finally get through adjudication only to be denied for insufficient work searches.

Thank you! I just sent an email to that address with all my info. And yes, I've been meticulously documenting my 5 work searches every week. I'm applying for anything I remotely qualify for at this point. I really appreciate everyone's help here - this community has given me more useful information than all my calls to DEO combined.

any update? did ne of these work for u?

Yes! Getting my state representative involved actually worked! Their office contacted DEO on my behalf and three days later I got a call from an actual adjudicator. She reviewed my case on the spot and approved my claim. All payments were in my account 2 days later. Definitely try the state rep route if you're still stuck!

@Giovanni Gallo that s'amazing news! How long did it take from when you first contacted your state rep s'office to when they actually reached out to DEO? I m'going to try this route too - been stuck for 6 weeks now with a separation issue. Really gives me hope that there s'actually a way to get through this nightmare system.

@Zara Ahmed It took about 5 days from when I first called my state rep s'office to when they actually contacted DEO. They had me fill out a privacy release form first took (about 2 days to get that sorted ,)then their constituent services person said they d'reach out to DEO within 48 hours. The whole process from initial contact to getting my claim approved was about 2 weeks total. Way faster than the 8+ weeks I d'been waiting! Definitely worth trying - just make sure you have all your documentation ready when you call.
