so now this is a huge problem. i failed to report earnings during COVID, received cheques, residuals and were overpayments which helped me reduce my huge debt, EDD stopped the weekly payments, had the phone interview, told them how much i received and everything they wanted to know and now they are deciding....and im not receiving any money...nothing......is anyone going through this? literally my account has been put on hold while they decide....and i have no income at all....

They will not pay you during their “investigation”

Do you have any idea how long that would take? it was a huge mistake on my end, i didnt even realize i forgot to report that to them which kills me because im a very honest person yet i clarified everything to them. will this take years?

It could take a few weeks to maybe a few months depending on how backed up they are in the overpayment department. They each have their own department within the EDD. I get you, I’m a very honest person too and would feel so bad if something like this happened to me. But what recently happened was my sister in law was getting money on the side from another job while getting benefits and they found out and they stopped her payments, did an investigation which they calculated and she had to pay them back.

I don’t think what you did was considered to be fraudulent, which is a good thing. It was just unreported wages, only thing they do is stop payment and if they over paid you, have to pay them back. They can help with like payment options.

And just a FYI you can apply for cal fresh, which gives you money for groceries. Very helpful during these times. I applied and got $600

I get about $600-700 a month in groceries. I applied 3 months ago, everyone qualifies.

I’m a household of 4 and I’m in California. That money usually lasts me a month. I get it every 3 of each month.

I encourage you to apply, benefits are ending September 11 for everyone including claim balances that are left over. People should apply before their system gets overwhelmed with cases the way edd did.

Nothing to be embarrassed about either. It’s a gov program just like Edd. I recommend it to everyone, people need food in the fridge you know. Especially with no job.

i just submitted my application and states only 230 dollars per month is that normal? so regarding the investigation for EDD will it take them months and months?

im so so so worried right now under investigation not being paid and its horrible
