SDI overpayment offset causing payment delays - $11,681 still owed, need advice
I submitted a physician statement for my SDI claim almost a month ago and I'm still waiting on my benefits. There's an overpayment offset that's causing issues with my payments. I'm supposed to get $714 weekly, with a maximum benefit amount of $15,455. So far, I've only received $3,774, leaving $11,681 remaining. Has anyone else dealt with overpayment offsets? How long did it take to resolve? I'm getting worried about bills piling up.

Ugh, overpayment offsets are the worst! I've been there, took me like 2 months to sort it out. Have you tried calling EDD? Good luck getting through tho, its a nightmare 🙄

2 months?! That's insane. I've tried calling but can never get through. Any tips on best times to call?

I had the best luck calling right when they open at 8am. Set an alarm and start dialing at 7:59 lol. Sometimes I'd get through, other times it was just busy signals all day 🤷♂️

Pro tip: use the Spanish line and then ask for English. Way shorter wait times!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and submissions. 2. Contact your local state representative. They can often help push things along. 3. File an appeal if necessary. You have the right to challenge any decision. 4. Be persistent. Keep calling and following up. 5. Check your UI Online account daily for updates. 6. Consider reaching out to legal aid if things don't improve. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't give up!

Glad to help! For contacting your state rep, find their office number online and explain your situation clearly. Be polite but firm. They often have staff dedicated to helping constituents with state agency issues. Good luck!

Have you checked if theres any identity verification issues? That held up my claim for weeks. Might be worth double-checking all your docs are in order.

I haven't considered that. How do I check for identity verification issues?

Log into your UI Online account and look for any pending tasks or messages. Sometimes they need additional proof of identity but don't make it obvious. If nothing there, def worth asking about when you finally get through to someone.

Overpayment offset? More like overpayment upset, amirite? 🥁😆 But seriously, hang in there OP. We're all in the same sinking boat with EDD.
