Need help with EDD extension and PFL overpayment - calling disability soon
Hey everyone, I'm dealing with some EDD extension issues and a PFL overpayment problem. I need to call disability to sort this out. Has anyone been through something similar? Any advice on how to handle this or what to expect when I get through to them?

Ugh, I feel your pain. I had to deal with EDD extensions last year and it was a nightmare. Make sure you have all your paperwork ready before you call. They'll probably ask for dates of employment, your claim number, and any correspondence you've received about the overpayment. Good luck!

Thanks for the heads up! Do you remember how long it took to get everything sorted out?

It took about 3 weeks for me, but I've heard it can vary. Just keep following up and don't let them forget about you!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Can confirm, I used it last month. Felt like cheating the system but hey, if it works it works š¤·āāļø

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through in 15 minutes last time I tried this. Also, be super nice to the person who answers - they deal with angry people all day and being kind can go a long way.

Have you tried checking your online account? Sometimes you can resolve overpayment issues through the portal without having to call. Might save you some time and headache.

I did try that, but it's not giving me all the info I need. Guess I'll have to brave the phone lines š

Oof, EDD and PFL in one go? You're in for a wild ride, my friend. Here's what I learned from my experience: ā¢ Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online interaction. ā¢ If you get conflicting info (and you probably will), ask for a supervisor. ā¢ For the overpayment, see if you qualify for a waiver. There are certain circumstances where they'll forgive it. ā¢ Don't let them rush you off the phone. Make sure you understand everything before hanging up. ā¢ If all else fails, contact your local state representative. They can sometimes cut through the red tape. Hang in there, it's a process but you'll get through it!

Have you considered sacrificing a goat to the EDD gods? Might be more effective than actually calling them tbh
