EDD claim extension help - keep getting dropped calls, any advice?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to get an extension for my EDD claim. Has anyone gone through this process recently? I've been trying to reach them but keep getting dropped calls. Any advice on how to get through or what to expect?

Ugh, I feel your pain. EDD's phone system is a nightmare. I spent weeks trying to get through. Have you tried calling right when they open? That seemed to work for me eventually.

Calling when they open is hit or miss. I've had better luck calling around 3pm. Less traffic then.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

20 bucks? Thats kinda steep for something that should be free...

I get the skepticism, but after weeks of trying, it was worth it for me. Saved me so much time and frustration.

How long did you have to wait once you used the service?

It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit by the phone. They called me when an agent was on the line.

Here's what you need to know about EDD claim extensions: 1. Check if you're eligible. Usually, you need to have exhausted your regular UI benefits. 2. Look for a notice in your UI Online account or mail about the extension. 3. If you're eligible, the extension should be automatic. 4. If it's not automatic, you may need to file a new claim. 5. Be prepared to verify your identity and provide any requested documents. If you do get through on the phone, ask about the PEUC (Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation) if your regular benefits have run out. Good luck!

This is super helpful, thank you! I'll check my UI Online account right away.

Great info! Just wanna add that sometimes the online system doesn't update right away. Don't panic if you don't see changes immediately.

have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds old school but I got a response within a week when I faxed my extension request

Serious question: has anyone had luck with the online chat feature? I've been trying to use it but it's always 'at capacity'

Online chat is a myth, I swear. Never managed to get through in 6 months of trying.

Pro tip: if you have a friend who speaks another language, try calling the non-English lines. They usually have shorter wait times and the reps still speak English.

Isn't that kinda unethical tho?
