Need help accessing SDI benefit statement and checks from 3-month disability period - can't reach anyone!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble accessing my benefit statement and checks from when I was on disability for 3 months. I tried calling unemployment by mistake, but I really need to talk to someone in the disability department. Anyone know how to get through to them or access this info online?

Ugh, been there done that. The disability department is a whole different beast from unemployment. Have you tried logging into your online account? Sometimes they have benefit statements available there.

•Yeah, I tried that but couldn't find anything specific to those 3 months. It's so frustrating!

•Same here! The online system is a joke. I swear they make it confusing on purpose 🙄

•Tell me about it. I spent hours clicking around in circles last time I needed something. Maybe try the 'Contact Us' form? At least then you have a paper trail.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 😡

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do they just keep calling until they get through?

•Basically, yeah. They have some automated system that navigates the phone tree and waits on hold. When a real person picks up, it calls you. Beats sitting on hold for hours!

Have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds ancient, but sometimes that's the only way to get their attention. Just make sure to keep a copy of everything you send!

Here's what worked for me: 1. Call right when they open (check their website for hours) 2. If you get a busy signal, hang up and immediately redial 3. Keep doing this until you get through to the hold music 4. Once you're on hold, DO NOT HANG UP no matter how long it takes 5. Have all your info ready when you finally talk to someone It's a pain, but persistence is key. Good luck!

•This is the way. I had to do this for THREE DAYS STRAIGHT before I got through. But it eventually worked!

idk if this helps, but I had a similar issue last year. Turns out they had sent my statements to an old address. Might be worth checking if they have your current info on file.

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling your local assemblymember's office. They often have direct lines to these departments and can help push things along.

•This! 💯 My assemblymember's office was a lifesaver when I was dealing with EDD issues.

•Wait, really? I didn't even know this was an option. How do you find your assemblymember?

•Just google '[your city] assemblymember' and it should pop up. Most have contact forms on their websites. They're usually pretty responsive!

OP, make sure you're calling the State Disability Insurance (SDI) line, not the regular disability line. They're different departments and it can get confusing af.

Anyone else feel like we need a support group just for dealing with these government agencies? 😅 Seriously though, hang in there OP. The system sucks but you'll get through eventually.

Have you checked if there's a local office you can visit in person? Sometimes face-to-face is the only way to get things sorted out. Just be prepared for a long wait.
