Late CalJOBS resume upload before eligibility interview - Will EDD disqualify me?

I'm stressing out about an upcoming eligibility interview with EDD scheduled for December 7th. My timeline is a mess: - Applied for unemployment benefits: November 9, 2025 - Received CalJOBS registration notice: November 15, 2025 - Finally uploaded my resume: December 1, 2025 (16 days later!) The problem is I completely missed the requirement that resumes need to be uploaded within 14 days. I already had a CalJOBS account from 2022, but I forgot my password and just... procrastinated. Meanwhile, EDD scheduled this eligibility interview and didn't specify why. I'm guessing it could be because I was on State Disability Insurance back in May 2024 for a workplace injury (recovered now). They asked about it during my first certification. What's going to happen in this interview? Will they disqualify me for being late with the CalJOBS resume? Anyone have tips for how to explain myself or prepare for this mystery interview?

You're probably fine with the resume being a couple days late. The eligibility interview is most likely about the SDI issue, not about CalJOBS. When you transition from disability to unemployment, EDD always wants to verify you're able to work now. They'll ask questions about your health status, work restrictions, and job search efforts. Prepare by having documentation ready about: 1. Medical clearance to return to work (if you have it) 2. Explanation of how your condition no longer prevents you from working 3. List of jobs you've applied for since filing Be honest but confident that you're fully able and available for work. The interviewer just needs to document this for their files.

Thank you so much for this! I do have a doctor's note clearing me for full duty work from July 2024, so I'll have that ready. Such a relief to hear the CalJOBS thing probably isn't a big deal. Should I bring up the late resume submission or just wait to see if they mention it?

That's encouraging to hear about CalJOBS! And yes, I'll definitely have my doctor's note ready. Thanks for the reassurance!

Be prepared for BOTH issues to come up. EDD can be extremely inconsistent. I had an eligibility interview scheduled for one reason but they ended up asking about 3 completely different things. The CalJOBS requirement is definitely something they can ping you for, and missing deadlines can lead to disqualification. The SDI transition is absolutely going to be discussed too. I'd suggest calling EDD before your interview to find out the specific reason it was scheduled. That way you can properly prepare. Good luck actually reaching someone though - that's a whole other nightmare!

If you're having trouble getting through to EDD on the phone, try using Claimyr (claimyr.com). It automatically redials until it gets through, then calls you when an agent is available. Saved me hours of frustration when I had a similar situation with an eligibility interview. Their video demo shows how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km

You're right - better to be prepared for everything. I'll gather documentation for both the SDI issue and try to explain the CalJOBS delay. Fingers crossed they're understanding about the missed deadline.

I think its TOTALLY the SDI thing!!! EDD always does this when you go from disability to unemployment. My brother had the EXACT same situation and they just wanted to make sure he was actually able to work now. The interview was like 10 minutes and they approved him right away. I don't think they even check the CalJOBS stuff tbh, pretty sure that's just a formality. They're WAY more concerned about your ability to work after being on disability.

They absolutely DO check the CalJOBS requirement. I got disqualified for 6 weeks because I didn't upload a resume at all. Don't spread misinformation that could cost someone benefits.

Thanks for sharing your brother's experience - that's reassuring! But I'll still make sure to address the CalJOBS issue too based on the other comments. Better safe than sorry!

wait, your supposed to upload a resume to caljobs? i just made an account when they told me to but didn't do anything else 😳 been getting benefits for 3 months now and nobody said anything about a resume?

Yes, you're required to register AND upload a resume on CalJOBS as part of work search requirements. The notice clearly states this. You've been lucky they haven't caught it yet, but I'd recommend uploading one ASAP before they notice and potentially disqualify you for some weeks.

To prepare for your eligibility interview: 1. Have your work search records ready - even if they don't ask, it shows you're taking requirements seriously 2. Bring medical documentation showing you're fully released to work 3. For the late CalJOBS resume, be honest but brief: "I had technical difficulties with my old account and resolved it as quickly as possible" 4. Arrive 5-10 minutes early if it's in-person, or be ready by the phone 15 minutes before if it's by phone 5. Answer questions directly without volunteering unnecessary information Most importantly: don't stress too much. Being a couple days late on CalJOBS likely won't be a major issue if everything else is in order. The SDI transition is the more significant concern they'll focus on.

This is incredibly helpful! Thank you for the detailed preparation tips. I've been keeping a spreadsheet of my job applications, so I'll have that ready along with my medical clearance. My interview is by phone, so I'll make sure to be ready early.

I went through a similar situation last year with a late CalJOBS resume upload (mine was 18 days late due to a family emergency). The eligibility interview ended up being entirely about my ability to work after a previous workers' comp claim - they didn't even mention CalJOBS once during the 15-minute call. My advice: Focus your prep on the SDI transition. Have your medical clearance ready and be able to clearly explain that you're fully recovered and actively seeking work. The interviewer will likely ask about any work restrictions, when you were cleared to return to work, and what types of jobs you're applying for. For the CalJOBS delay, if they bring it up, just explain you had account access issues and resolved it promptly once you figured it out. Don't overthink it - they're much more concerned about verifying your work eligibility than a minor administrative delay.

Thank you for sharing your experience! It's really reassuring to hear from someone who went through almost the exact same situation. 18 days late and they didn't even bring up CalJOBS - that gives me so much hope! I'll definitely focus my preparation on the SDI/work ability aspect since that seems to be what they really care about. Having multiple people confirm this pattern makes me feel much more confident going into Wednesday's call.

I had my eligibility interview about 6 months ago and it sounds like we have very similar situations. Mine was also scheduled after transitioning from SDI to unemployment, and I was also late with my CalJOBS resume (about 10 days late). The interview was 100% focused on my ability to work after being on disability. They asked: - What was the nature of my disability/injury - When was I medically cleared to return to work - Do I have any ongoing restrictions - Am I actively looking for work and able to accept employment immediately They never once mentioned CalJOBS or the late resume upload. The whole call took maybe 12 minutes and I was approved to continue receiving benefits. My recommendation is to have your medical clearance documentation ready and be prepared to confidently state that you're fully able to work without restrictions. The CalJOBS thing is really not something they seem to focus on during these interviews - it's all about verifying your work capacity after disability.

This is exactly what I needed to hear! Your experience sounds almost identical to mine - the SDI transition timing and even being about 10 days late with CalJOBS. It's such a relief to know they focused entirely on work ability rather than the administrative delay. I have my medical clearance from July ready to go, and I can definitely speak confidently about being fully cleared with no restrictions. Thanks for sharing those specific questions they asked - I'll make sure I'm prepared to answer each of those clearly and concisely. This really helps calm my nerves about Wednesday!

I'm a new member here but wanted to share since I just went through this exact situation last month! I was also transitioning from SDI to unemployment and had a late CalJOBS resume upload (mine was 12 days late because I couldn't remember my old login info). The eligibility interview was scheduled for the same reason as yours - the SDI transition. They want to verify you're actually able and available for work now. My interview lasted about 10 minutes and they asked: 1. What was my disability/injury that led to SDI 2. When was I medically cleared to return to work 3. Do I have any current work restrictions 4. Am I actively job searching and available to start work immediately The CalJOBS delay never came up at all! I was so worried about it beforehand but they were only focused on my work capacity. My advice: Have your medical clearance ready, be confident about your ability to work, and don't stress about the CalJOBS timing. You'll do fine! The fact that you uploaded it before your interview shows good faith effort to comply.

Welcome to the community! Thanks for sharing your recent experience - it's so helpful to hear from someone who just went through this exact situation. Your timeline sounds almost identical to mine, and knowing that CalJOBS didn't even come up in your interview is such a huge relief! I've been stressing about that 16-day delay but it sounds like they really are focused on the work capacity issue from the SDI transition. I have my medical clearance from July ready and feel much more confident now about Wednesday's call. Really appreciate you taking the time to share those specific questions they asked!

Just wanted to add my perspective as someone who works in workforce development - the eligibility interviews following SDI to unemployment transitions are super routine and generally straightforward. EDD is legally required to verify that claimants are able and available for work when they transition off disability benefits. The late CalJOBS resume upload really shouldn't be a major concern, especially since you did complete it before your interview. The system generates these interviews automatically based on your SDI history, not because of any specific compliance issues they've flagged. Come prepared with your medical clearance documentation and be ready to demonstrate that you're actively job searching. The interview is really just a checkbox exercise for them to document your work readiness in their system. You've got this!

Thank you for the professional perspective! It's really helpful to understand that these interviews are automatically generated based on SDI history rather than specific compliance flags. That takes away a lot of my anxiety about whether I did something wrong. Knowing it's essentially a routine checkbox exercise for documenting work readiness makes me feel much more prepared and confident going into Wednesday's call. I appreciate you taking the time to explain the process from the workforce development side!

I just wanted to chime in as someone who's been through multiple EDD eligibility interviews over the years. Based on everything you've shared, this sounds like a completely standard SDI-to-unemployment transition interview. The 16-day delay on CalJOBS really isn't as big of a deal as you think - I've seen people get away with much longer delays, and the fact that you completed it before your interview shows you're making a good faith effort to comply with requirements. Here's what I'd suggest for your prep: - Have that medical clearance handy (sounds like you're already on top of this!) - Prepare a brief, honest explanation of your injury/recovery if they ask - Be ready to confidently state you have no work restrictions - Have a few recent job applications ready to mention if they ask about your search efforts The interview will likely be quick and straightforward. EDD just needs to check the boxes that you're work-ready after being on disability. You've got all the right documentation and mindset - don't overthink it! Looking forward to hearing your positive update after Wednesday.

Thank you so much for this reassurance! It really helps to hear from someone with multiple EDD interview experiences. I've been overthinking this whole situation, but you're right - I have all the documentation ready and the right mindset. Your prep suggestions are spot-on and I'm already prepared for each of those points. I'll definitely come back with an update after Wednesday's call to let everyone know how it went. This community has been incredibly helpful in calming my nerves and giving me realistic expectations!

Hey there! I'm new to this community but wanted to share since I literally just had my eligibility interview last week for the exact same situation - SDI to unemployment transition with a late CalJOBS upload (mine was 19 days late because I forgot my password too!). The interview was super straightforward and lasted about 8 minutes. They only asked about my work capacity after disability - nothing about CalJOBS at all! The questions were basically: - Nature of my disability - When I was cleared to return to work - Any current limitations (I said none) - If I'm actively job searching I had my doctor's clearance ready but they didn't even ask to see it - just wanted me to confirm the date verbally. Honestly, I was way more stressed about it than I needed to be. Sounds like you're already well-prepared with your documentation. The fact that you got your resume uploaded before the interview shows you're compliant, even if it was a few days late. You'll do great on Wednesday! This community is awesome for support - glad I found it.

Welcome to the community! Your timing is perfect - it's so reassuring to hear from someone who literally just went through this exact situation last week. 19 days late on CalJOBS and they didn't mention it at all! That's even later than mine, so I'm feeling much more confident now. It's funny how we both had the same password issue - seems like that's a common problem with old CalJOBS accounts. Your experience sounds like exactly what everyone else has been saying - they really do focus entirely on the work capacity aspect rather than administrative delays. Thanks for sharing those specific questions and the timeline (8 minutes!). I'm definitely overthinking this whole thing. Looking forward to a quick, straightforward call on Wednesday!

As someone who's been navigating EDD issues for a while, I wanted to add that your situation sounds very routine and manageable. The fact that you're being so proactive about preparing for this interview already shows you're taking it seriously. One thing I'd suggest - since you mentioned your workplace injury was from May 2024 and you have medical clearance from July 2024, make sure you can clearly explain that timeline if they ask. The gap between injury and clearance might come up, so just be ready with a simple explanation of your recovery process. Also, don't forget that you can ask them at the beginning of the call what specific topics they need to cover. Sometimes they'll actually tell you "we're here to discuss your work availability after disability" which can help you focus your answers and reduce anxiety about unknown issues. Based on all the experiences shared here, it really sounds like the CalJOBS delay is a non-issue for this type of interview. You've got this! The community will be rooting for you on Wednesday.
