EDD won't release UI benefits - they think I'm in training classes but I'm not. How to update info?

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my UI benefits. The EDD hasn't released any payments to me because they think I'm in training classes, but I'm not. Has anyone else dealt with this? I need to update my information with them but I can't get through on the phone. Any advice on how to handle this?

I found a way to solve EDD training status mixup, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAerjgSCoHg

Ugh, classic EDD mixup. I had something similar happen to me last year. Have you tried sending them an email or using their online portal to update your info? Sometimes that's faster than calling.

I tried the online portal but there's no option to update this specific info. Guess I'll have to keep trying to call 😩

Email is useless with EDD. I sent one 3 months ago and still no response. Your best bet is to keep calling until you get through.

Damn, that sucks. EDD really needs to get their act together. Good luck OP!

I found a way to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. I was desperate after trying for weeks to get through. The $20 was worth it to finally talk to someone and get my issue resolved.

How long did you have to wait once you used the service?

It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They called me when an agent was on the line. Way better than wasting a whole day redialing.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down dates, times, and details of all your attempts to contact EDD. 2. Keep trying to call early in the morning or late in the afternoon. Those are usually less busy times. 3. If you can't get through by phone, send a written request via certified mail. This creates a paper trail. 4. Contact your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 5. If all else fails, file an appeal. This forces them to review your case. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The system is frustrating, but you'll get through eventually. Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try contacting my state rep, I hadn't thought of that.

This is solid advice. I'd add that keeping a log of all your calls and attempts can help if you need to escalate the issue later.

Have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds ancient, but I've heard some people have success with that method.

Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 😂

Hey, don't knock it till you've tried it! Sometimes old school methods work when everything else fails 🤷‍♀️

I feel your pain, OP. I've been dealing with EDD for 6 months now. It's like talking to a brick wall sometimes. Hang in there!

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling some of the other departments and ask to be transferred. Sometimes you can backdoor your way to the right person.

Have you checked if theres any in-person EDD offices open near you? Sometimes face-to-face is the best way to get things sorted.

I didn't even know they had in-person offices! I'll look into this, thanks!
