EDD unemployment claim stuck in underwriting for weeks - how to speed up process?
I'm so frustrated with my unemployment claim. It's been stuck in underwriting for weeks now and I have no idea what's going on. Has anyone else dealt with this? I tried calling but can never get through to a real person. Any advice on how to speed up the process or at least find out what's happening would be really appreciated. I'm starting to worry about bills piling up while I wait.

Guys I messed up. I accidentally selected "disability" instead of "unemployment" when I called. Now I'm even more confused about what department I need to talk to. Any advice?

Oof, that's rough. Maybe try calling again and selecting the right option? Or see if you can change it online?

Classic EDD move. They probably have the departments mixed up anyway 🙃

Oh no, I've done that before too! It's so frustrating. Definitely try calling again and make sure to select unemployment this time. Good luck!

Don't worry, mistakes happen! Double-checking your selections next time might help avoid this.

Anyone else feel like they're playing a really unfun version of The Hunger Games with this unemployment system? May the odds be ever in your favor, I guess 🏹

PSA: Don't forget to breathe, stay hydrated, and occasionally scream into a pillow while dealing with EDD. Self-care is important, y'all 💆♀️

Thanks for the reminder. The pillow screaming is especially therapeutic 😌

Adding "professional pillow screamer" to my resume. Thanks, EDD! 📄

I heard a rumor that if you say "EDD" three times in front of a mirror at midnight, a claims specialist appears. Worth a shot, right?

At this point, I'm desperate enough to try anything. BRB, gonna go find a mirror 😅

Instructions unclear. Summoned a demon instead. Still more helpful than EDD tho 👹

It's sad that we've come to this point of desperation, but it's a humorous take on a frustrating situation.

It can be really discouraging, but don't lose hope! Maybe try reaching out to a local representative or joining a support group for additional help.

Guys, I think I figured it out. The EDD is actually run by a bunch of sloths. That's why everything takes so long. Mystery solved! 🦥🦥🦥

Serious question: has anyone actually received their benefits yet? Starting to feel like it's just a myth at this point 🤔

I did! After 3 months, 47 phone calls, and sacrificing my firstborn to the EDD gods 🙃

I think benefits are like Bigfoot. Everyone's heard of them, but no one's actually seen them 🦶

Benefits are definitely real, but the system's inefficiencies make accessing them a daunting task. Keep pressing on!

Here's what you need to do to speed up your claim: 1. Document everything: Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD, including dates and times. 2. Gather all necessary paperwork: Make sure you have all your employment records, tax forms, and any other relevant documents ready. 3. Contact your local representative: Sometimes they can help push things along. 4. Be persistent: Keep calling and emailing. The squeaky wheel gets the grease. 5. Check your online account daily: Sometimes they update info there without notifying you. 6. Join unemployment support groups on social media: They often have insider tips and can alert you to system updates. Remember, the system is overwhelmed right now, so patience is key. But don't give up!

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD website is always "under maintenance" when you actually need to use it? It's like they're trolling us at this point 🙄

Pro tip: Try accessing the site at like 3 AM. Sometimes it works better then. #vampirelife

It's truly unfortunate how unreliable the site can be. Trying off-peak hours is a good strategy.

The frustration you are feeling is unfortunately very common right now due to the high volume of claims being processed. Here are some steps you can take: 1. Firstly, make sure all your information is up to date and accurate on the EDD system. Mistakes or missing information can significantly slow down the process. 2. Try to reach out to EDD through multiple channels. In addition to calling, consider using email, social media, or even faxing as suggested. 3. Consider using a third-party service like Claimyr, although keep in mind this will incur a cost. Many users have reported success with Claimyr, but it's a personal decision on whether the cost is justified. 4. Document all your interactions and attempts to contact them, as this can be useful if you need to escalate your issue. 5. Lastly, try to stay connected with other claimants through forums and social media groups, as they often share valuable insights and advice. It's a tough time, but hang in there. Many have gone through this and come out the other side, so stay persistent and proactive.

Been there, done that. The underwriting process is a nightmare. Have you tried emailing them? Sometimes that works better than calling.

Try edd@unemployment.gov. It's not perfect, but I got a response in about a week. Better than nothing, right?

Emailing can be a hit or miss approach, but it's definitely worth a try. Just remember to be clear and concise in your email, and include all relevant information.

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

I've actually heard good things about Claimyr, but just remember that it's an external service, so weigh the cost against the potential time saved.
