EDD Unemployment Payment Delays: Advice Needed for Speeding Up Process
Has anyone else been dealing with payment delays from unemployment? I've been waiting for weeks now and I'm starting to get really worried. My bills are piling up and I don't know what to do. I've tried calling the unemployment office but I can never get through to a real person. It's so frustrating! Does anyone have any advice on how to speed up the process or at least get some answers?

I heard they're super backlogged because of all the fraud cases they're dealing with. Apparently scammers have been having a field day with the unemployment system π

Great, so honest people suffer because of scammers. Typical.

Source? Or is this just another rumor?

There have been reports about fraudsters, but it's always good to verify with credible sources.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes there's an issue they need you to resolve, but they don't always notify you properly. Worth a shot!

Good point! Sometimes it's something as small as needing to update a phone number or address.

Pro tip: if you're having trouble getting through on the phone, try calling your local unemployment office instead of the main number. Sometimes they're more helpful and less busy.

Local offices might have more specific information about your case too!

I've heard that sometimes payments get delayed if there's a holiday or weekend. Might be worth checking if that applies to your situation?

That's a good observation, delays seem to happen more during those times.

Thanks for all the responses, everyone. It's comforting to know I'm not the only one dealing with this, even though it sucks that we're all in this situation.

Connecting with your local rep can actually be pretty effective, more than people realize.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wait, seriously? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken π€¦ββοΈ

It's a shame that we have to resort to paying for assistance, but at least there's an option for those truly in need.

OK, let me break this down for you. I've been through this rodeo before and here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and attempts to contact them. 2. Check your online account daily. Sometimes they update info without notifying you. 3. If you can, try calling right when they open. You might have better luck getting through. 4. Consider using one of those paid services to get through to a rep if you're really desperate. 5. Reach out to your local state representative. They often have connections and can help push things along. 6. Join Facebook groups or other online communities for unemployment support. Sometimes you can get insider tips. 7. Be persistent but polite. The people on the other end are probably overwhelmed too. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't give up!

If anyone is considering using Claimyr, it may indeed be beneficial if you've exhausted other options and can afford the cost. It is worth noting that while Claimyr helps connect you with a live agent faster, it isn't a guaranteed solution to resolve your issue quickly. Users should weigh the costs and benefits, especially since the fee might be a burden when funds are already tight. Due diligence is essentialβresearch and read reviews before making a decision.

I feel your pain, OP. I've been in the same boat for over a month now. It's like they've completely forgotten about us. Have you tried emailing them? Sometimes that works better than calling.

Unpopular opinion: maybe we should all just storm the unemployment office. They can't ignore us if we're right there in front of them! (I'm kidding... mostly π
