first payments can take a while tbh... mine took like 4 days to switch from pending to paid and then another 2 days before it hit my card. just wait it out

4 days?? That feels like forever when you're watching your bank account drain. Did you do anything special to make it go through or just wait?

The first payment after your waiting period often takes longer than subsequent payments because EDD is still finalizing the verification of your claim details. It's completely normal for it to stay pending for 2-3 business days. If you certified on a weekend, add another day. If it remains pending for more than 5 business days, then you might want to contact EDD to make sure there aren't any flags on your account that need addressing.

this is true!!! also make sure u answered all the certification questions correctly. if u mess up even 1 thing it can cause delays. double check that u reported any income correctly too

Omg I'm going through the EXACT same thing right now!!! Certified at midnight too (high five for unemployment insomnia club lol) and still stuck on pending. Called EDD three times today and can't get through to ANYONE. This is so frustrating!!!! Did yours change status yet??

everyone says patience but i had this happen and waited 3 weeks. they NEVER switched it to paid until i called them. turns out there was a flag on my account for identity verification that nobody told me about. had to upload additional documents. definitely call if it doesnt change in a few days.

I had the same exact issue last month! My first payment after the waiting week got stuck on pending for 10 days. I tried calling EDD at least 20 times but kept getting the \

Just checked out that video - looks WAY easier than what I've been doing! I'm on day 3 of constant redialing. Might try this if mine doesn't switch by tomorrow.

Some important information to know about first payments:\n\n1. The first payment after your waiting period typically takes 2-3 business days to process, although it can occasionally take up to 5 days.\n\n2. If you certified during the weekend, EDD processing doesn't begin until Monday morning, which adds time.\n\n3. Check your UI Online homepage for any notifications about required actions or pending eligibility interviews. Sometimes they don't email you about these issues.\n\n4. Your payment status will change from \

Thank you for this detailed breakdown! I don't see any notifications or messages about required actions, so I'll give it the full 5 business days before panicking. Really appreciate the help!

Update from my earlier comment: If your certifications remain pending for more than 2-3 days, log into UI Online and check under \

Just checked the History tab and everything looks normal. No special notes or anything flagged. I'm on regular UI, not PUA. I double-checked all my certification answers and I said yes to being available for work and looking for work, and I didn't have any earnings to report. Guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer. Thanks for all the help everyone!

I'm in the exact same boat! This is my first time on unemployment and I certified for my second time yesterday. Both weeks are still showing as pending and I'm getting really anxious about it. Reading through all these comments is actually making me feel a lot better though - sounds like this is pretty normal for first payments. I'm going to try to be patient and wait the full 5 business days like Dylan suggested before I start calling. It's just so stressful when you're depending on this money to pay bills! Fingers crossed both our payments go through soon 🤞

•@a56355fb2c70 Right there with you! It's definitely nerve-wracking when you're counting on that money. I've been refreshing the UI Online page way too much hoping to see it change from pending to paid 😅 At least we know we're not alone in this - seems like pretty much everyone goes through the same anxiety with their first payment. Hopefully we'll both wake up to good news soon!

I've been through this exact situation multiple times and here's what I've learned: first payments after the waiting week almost always take longer because EDD does additional verification checks on new claims. The system flags first-time certifications for extra review even when everything is correct. I'd recommend checking your payment history every morning around 6 AM - that's usually when status changes happen overnight. Also, if you have the EDD debit card, sometimes the money shows up there before the website updates the status. Don't stress too much unless it hits day 7-8, then definitely call. The waiting is the worst part but it's completely normal!
