EDD disqualified my postpartum disability claim - need help with appeal process
My postpartum disability claim got disqualified and I have no clue why. The EDD website just says I need to submit an Appeal Form to be reconsidered. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do next?

Ugh, that sucks! I went through something similar last year. Here's what I did: 1. Download the Appeal Form from the EDD website 2. Fill it out carefully, explaining why you think the decision was wrong 3. Include any supporting documents (medical records, etc.) 4. Make copies of everything 5. Send it via certified mail so you have proof of delivery It took about 6 weeks, but they eventually approved my claim. Don't give up!

•This is really helpful, thanks! Did you get a lawyer or anything?

•Nah, I didn't need one. But if your case is complicated, it might be worth consulting with someone who specializes in disability claims.

•6 weeks?! 😱 That's actually pretty fast for EDD lol

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds sketchy. Is it legit?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo

•How long did you have to wait after they called for you?

•It took about 2 hours, but I just went about my day and they called me when an agent was on the line. Way better than being stuck on hold myself!

the EDD is such a joke. they probably "lost" your paperwork or something 🙄

Have you checked if there were any changes to postpartum disability policies recently? Sometimes they update rules and don't communicate well.

•I haven't, that's a good idea. Where would I find that info?

•Try the EDD website under 'News and Updates' or give them a call (if you can get through lol). Sometimes local news sites cover changes too.

Pro tip: keep a detailed log of all your interactions with EDD. Dates, times, who you talked to, what they said. It'll help if you need to escalate your case.
