EDD SDI application issue: Doctor's medical certification not received, office address changed - What to do?
Has anyone else had trouble with their disability insurance application? I just got a text saying they didn't receive the medical certification from my doctor. They told me to ask my doctor to submit part B, but my doctor says he never got anything. He thinks it might be because his office changed addresses recently. I'm not sure what to do now or how to get this sorted out quickly. Any advice?

Regarding services like Claimyr, they can be incredibly helpful in bridging the gap between you and EDD, especially when you're stuck in hold limbo. However, considering the cost and balancing it with the urgency of your claim is important. You should also explore the possibility of local resources or representatives who might offer free assistance. Claimyr has been positively received by many users who have successfully cut down their wait times, yet it's always advisable to exhaust other free options first if possible.

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They often have liaisons who can help navigate these issues with EDD. It's worth a shot!

I didn't even know that was an option! How do I find my local assembly member?

Just google "[your city] assembly member". Their office should have a constituent services department. They've helped me before with EDD issues!

Involving local representatives can be a powerful move, as they often have the resources to escalate issues and can advocate on your behalf.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

Sounds sketchy. Is it legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

Yeah, I was skeptical at first too. But I was desperate and it actually worked. Saved me hours of hold time. Worth it imo.

How long did you have to wait for the callback?

It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still better than being stuck on hold all day!

Claimyr is a legit service, but always make sure to weigh the cost with the potential time saved. Sometimes, reaching out via other channels or timing your calls can be free alternatives.

This happened to me too! turns out my doctor's fax number was wrong in their system. Double-check with your doc that they have the correct fax number for EDD. It might save you a lot of headache.

Fax number? What year is it, 1995? 🤣 Can't believe they're still using faxes smh

Fax machines might seem outdated, but they're still very much in use for secure document transmissions. It's definitely a good idea to ensure the contact info is up to date!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Contact your doctor's office and confirm they have the correct fax number for EDD. 2. Ask them to resend Part B of the medical certification ASAP. 3. Call EDD (I know, it's a pain) and explain the situation. Ask if they can note your account about the address change and incoming fax. 4. If possible, get a copy of Part B from your doctor and fax it yourself to EDD. 5. Keep a record of all communications - dates, times, who you spoke to. 6. Follow up with both your doctor and EDD in a few days if you haven't heard anything. Remember, persistence is key. Don't let them give you the runaround. Good luck!

This is solid advice. I'd add: if you fax it yourself, send a cover letter explaining the situation briefly. And get a fax confirmation!

This plan is great! Another tip is to confirm with both the doctor and EDD once the re-sent documents have been received, ensuring there's no miscommunication.

Pro tip: if you can, try calling right when they open. I've had better luck getting through that way. Also, Tuesdays and Wednesdays seem to be less busy.

This might sound crazy, but have you tried sending a letter? Like, snail mail? I did that out of desperation once and it actually worked. Sometimes old school is the way to go 🐌📬

It might seem odd, but sometimes traditional mail can actually cut through the noise, especially if that's what they are more inclined to respond to.

I work in healthcare and deal with EDD often. Here's a tip: make sure your doctor's office is using the most up-to-date EDD forms. They change them sometimes and it can cause delays if old forms are used.

Keeping up with form updates is crucial, as outdated forms can be a major setback in processing claims.

Friendly reminder to everyone: be kind to the EDD reps when you do get through. They're dealing with a broken system too and are probably just as frustrated as we are. A little kindness goes a long way!

Ugh, I feel your pain. The whole system is a mess. I had a similar issue last year and it took me weeks to sort it out. Have you tried calling them directly? Sometimes that's the only way to get a straight answer.

Have you checked the EDD website for any updates on your claim? Sometimes they post info there before they contact you directly.
