EDD Error Code E0020 preventing claim certification - called but still stuck

I'm completely frustrated trying to certify for my UI benefits this week. Keep getting this Error Code E0020 whenever I try to log in to UI Online. I've tried everything - clearing browser cache, using incognito mode, even tried on my phone and tablet. Nothing works! Called EDD yesterday (took FOREVER to get through) and the rep just said to wait 24-48 hours for some "system update" to process. It's been 30 hours now and still getting the same error. My rent is due next week and I'm freaking out. Has anyone dealt with this Error Code E0020 before? Did waiting actually fix it or did you have to do something else? The rep wasn't very helpful and I'm worried about missing my certification window.

omg i had the EXACT same problem last month!! that error code is the WORST. waiting did NOT work for me - i waited 5 days and still got the error. what fixed it was logging in between 10pm-6am when the system has less traffic. weird but it worked for me. good luck!

Thank you!! I'll try that tonight. Did you have any issues with your payment being delayed because of this?

Error Code E0020 typically indicates an account access problem related to either verification issues or system maintenance. Here's what you can try: 1. Wait the full 48 hours as the rep suggested - sometimes their backend updates really do take that long 2. Try logging in during off-peak hours as suggested above 3. If you have access to your email associated with your EDD account, check if there are any verification requests you might have missed 4. Make sure your UI Online account hasn't been locked due to too many unsuccessful login attempts If none of these work after 48 hours, I recommend calling again and specifically asking for a Tier 2 specialist who can help with technical account issues.

Thanks so much for the detailed advice. I've checked my email and don't see any verification requests. I'll try the off-peak hours tonight and then call again tomorrow if needed.

When I had this error, it was because my ID.me verification had expired and needed to be redone. Did the rep mention anything about your identity verification status when you called? That might be the underlying issue rather than just a general system error.

0 coins

No, they didn't mention ID.me at all. How do I check if my verification expired? I did the ID.me thing when I first filed about 5 months ago.

You can check by going directly to ID.me and logging in to see your verification status. If that's expired, you'll need to redo it. But honestly, at this point you really need to speak with a Tier 2 specialist at EDD who can see exactly what's happening with your account.

I'll check ID.me right now. But how do I specifically get a Tier 2 specialist? When I called before, I was on hold for almost 2 hours before getting anyone.

After dealing with endless EDD phone problems, I finally used Claimyr to get through to EDD quickly. Saved me hours of frustration with busy signals and disconnects. When you have an error code like E0020, you definitely need to talk to someone who can actually look at your account, not just the frontline reps. Check out their video demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km to see how it works. Their website is claimyr.com - totally worth it when you're in a time crunch with rent coming up.

does that thing actually work? i thought it was a scam

It's not a scam - it's just a service that calls EDD repeatedly for you using their system and then connects you when they get through. Basically does what we'd all do manually but with technology. I was skeptical too but when I was desperate with a similar error code situation, it worked.

Thanks for the suggestion. I might try that tomorrow if I still can't get this resolved. Just checked ID.me and everything looks current there, so that's not the issue.

the EDD computers are sooooo old!!! my cousin works there and says they crash ALL THE TIME! error codes are just their way of saying "our system sux"...try again later lol

Your cousin works at EDD? Any chance they could help me figure out what's going on? 😅

lol naw she's just customer service, not IT. she cant even fix her own account problems!

I had a similar issue but it was error code E0026 not E0020... I think they mean different things. Mine was because my SSN had a typo in it somehow (not sure how that happened) and I had to submit form DE1326C to get it fixed. The whole thing took 3 weeks to resolve which SUCKED. Hope yours is something simpler like the system maintenance they mentioned.

You're right - different error codes indicate different problems. E0020 is typically an account access or verification issue, while E0026 relates to identity data mismatches as you experienced. It's important to get the exact error code when troubleshooting with EDD.

UPDATE: You guys won't believe this, but I tried logging in at 2am and IT WORKED! Was able to complete my certification with no problems. Thanks everyone for the suggestions - especially the off-peak hours tip. That really did the trick. What a ridiculous system though...why wouldn't the EDD rep just tell me that?

YAY!! so glad it worked! and yeah, half the reps don't even know the weird workarounds that actually fix things 🙄

Glad to hear it worked! For anyone else encountering Error Code E0020 in the future: 1. Try accessing UI Online during off-peak hours (late night/early morning) 2. Clear browser cache and cookies 3. Try different browsers and devices 4. Check for any ID.me verification issues 5. If all else fails, contact EDD directly and request a Tier 2 specialist The system load issue is common with EDD's aging infrastructure, especially during certification weeks when everyone is trying to log in at once.

This is such a helpful thread! I'm bookmarking this for future reference. It's crazy how the EDD reps don't mention the off-peak hours workaround - seems like that should be standard troubleshooting advice for Error Code E0020. Makes you wonder how many people are struggling with this same issue right now and don't know about this community. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and solutions!

Totally agree! I'm new here but already seeing how valuable this community is. It's frustrating that we have to figure out these workarounds ourselves when EDD should be providing this info upfront. Going to share this thread with some friends who've been having similar issues. Really appreciate everyone taking the time to help each other out!

I'm so glad I found this thread! I've been dealing with Error Code E0020 for the past two days and was getting nowhere with the standard troubleshooting steps. The off-peak hours tip is genius - I never would have thought of that. Going to try logging in around midnight tonight. It's really unfortunate that we have to rely on each other to figure out these workarounds instead of getting proper guidance from EDD directly. This community is a lifesaver for people navigating these technical issues. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and solutions!

Welcome to the community! It really is frustrating how we have to crowdsource these solutions when EDD should be training their reps better. The midnight login trick has saved so many people here - hopefully it works for you too! I've noticed the system seems most stable between 11pm-5am. If you're still having issues after trying the off-peak hours, definitely come back and update us. We're all in this together trying to navigate EDD's quirky system!

Just wanted to add my experience for anyone who might search for this later - I had Error Code E0020 about 3 weeks ago and the off-peak hours trick worked for me too! Tried at 11:30pm and got right in. What's really annoying is that I wasted a whole day trying all the "official" troubleshooting steps that didn't work. It seems like this error is almost always related to system overload during peak hours rather than actual account issues. EDD really needs to update their error messages to be more helpful - "try again during off-peak hours" would save everyone so much stress! Thanks to this community for sharing the real solutions that actually work.

This is exactly what I needed to hear! I'm dealing with the same E0020 error right now and was starting to panic. It's so reassuring to know that the off-peak hours trick has worked for multiple people here. I've been banging my head against the wall all day trying the "official" fixes with no luck. Going to set an alarm for 11pm tonight and try logging in then. You're absolutely right about EDD needing better error messages - "system overload, try during off-peak hours" would be so much more helpful than just showing a cryptic error code! Thanks for sharing your experience and adding to this incredibly helpful thread. This community is amazing!

I'm dealing with Error Code E0020 right now too and this thread has been incredibly helpful! I've been stuck for 2 days and the EDD rep I spoke to yesterday gave me the same "wait 24-48 hours" response without mentioning anything about off-peak hours. It's so frustrating that we have to discover these workarounds through community forums instead of getting proper guidance from EDD directly. I'm definitely going to try the midnight login trick tonight - it's amazing how many people here have had success with that approach. Thank you all for sharing your experiences and creating such a supportive space for navigating these technical nightmares. It's reassuring to know I'm not alone in dealing with EDD's system issues!

Welcome to the community! You're definitely not alone - it seems like Error Code E0020 is becoming more common lately. The midnight login trick really does work for most people, so fingers crossed it helps you too! It's such a shame that EDD reps aren't trained to mention this simple workaround that could save people days of stress. Make sure to try between 11pm-2am when the system load is lightest. If for some reason the off-peak hours don't work for you, come back and let us know - sometimes there are other underlying issues that need different solutions. Good luck tonight and keep us posted on how it goes!

This thread is incredibly valuable! I'm a new member here and just went through the exact same E0020 nightmare last week. Like many others, I wasted hours trying all the "official" troubleshooting steps with no luck. The EDD rep told me the same generic "wait 24-48 hours" line without any mention of the off-peak hours workaround. Finally tried logging in at 1:30am after reading similar advice in another forum, and boom - worked perfectly! It's really disappointing that EDD's front-line support doesn't know about these practical solutions that actually work. For anyone currently stuck with E0020: definitely try the late night/early morning login between 11pm-5am when server load is lowest. This community is doing EDD's job better than EDD itself when it comes to providing real solutions!

Welcome to the community! Your experience perfectly captures the frustration so many of us have faced with EDD's system. It's honestly ridiculous that we have to stumble upon these workarounds through trial and error or community forums when EDD should be proactive about sharing them. The 1:30am success story is another great data point - it really seems like anything after 11pm dramatically improves your chances. I'm glad you found a solution and took the time to share your experience here. Stories like yours help newcomers realize they're not alone and that there are real solutions beyond EDD's unhelpful "wait it out" advice. Thanks for contributing to this incredibly helpful thread!

Just wanted to add another success story to help future searchers - I had Error Code E0020 for 4 days straight and was getting really worried about missing my certification deadline. After reading through this amazing thread, I tried logging in at 12:45am last night and it worked like magic! What's really eye-opening is how consistent this pattern is - almost everyone here who tried the off-peak hours approach had success. It makes me wonder how many people are giving up or stressing unnecessarily because they don't know about this simple workaround. EDD really needs to train their phone reps to suggest this as the first troubleshooting step instead of the generic "wait 48 hours" response. This community has been more helpful than multiple calls to EDD combined. For anyone dealing with E0020 right now: set that midnight alarm and try logging in when everyone else is sleeping!

This is such a relief to hear! I'm currently dealing with E0020 and have been panicking about missing my certification window. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been so reassuring - it's clear that this off-peak hours trick really works for most people. I've tried calling EDD twice and both times got the same useless "wait 48 hours" response. It's honestly shocking how their own support staff doesn't know about this workaround that clearly helps so many people. I'm definitely setting my alarm for midnight tonight to try logging in. Thank you for sharing your success story and adding to this incredibly helpful thread! This community is amazing - getting real solutions from people who've actually been through this nightmare.

I'm so grateful I found this thread! I've been struggling with Error Code E0020 for the past 3 days and was starting to panic about missing my certification deadline. Called EDD twice and got the same unhelpful "wait 24-48 hours for system updates" response both times - no mention whatsoever of the off-peak hours workaround that clearly works for so many people here. It's honestly mind-blowing that their own support staff doesn't know about this solution that has helped practically everyone in this thread. Reading through all these success stories has given me so much hope. I'm definitely going to try the midnight login trick tonight - seems like the sweet spot is between 11pm-2am when server traffic is lowest. This community is doing a better job helping people than EDD's actual customer service! Will report back tomorrow with hopefully good news. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and creating such a supportive space for navigating EDD's technical disasters!

I completely understand your frustration! I just joined this community after dealing with similar EDD nightmares, and this thread has been such a lifesaver. It's absolutely ridiculous that we have to figure out these workarounds ourselves while EDD reps give the same copy-paste responses. The midnight login trick seems to work for almost everyone here - I'd definitely try between 11:30pm-1:30am based on all the success stories. It's so reassuring to know we're not alone in dealing with these system failures. Please update us tomorrow on how it goes! This community has been more helpful in one thread than multiple EDD calls combined.
