Cal Jobs 2FA emails not arriving - EDD registration deadline approaching
Is anyone else having issues with the Cal Jobs website? I've set up my account like EDD requires, but I CANNOT receive the 2-factor authentication emails they send. I've tried requesting them multiple times, checked spam folders, everything! Yet somehow I get all other emails from Cal Jobs just fine (like notifications and newsletters 🙄). My benefits require me to complete this registration by next week, and I'm getting seriously stressed. I've tried: 1. Emailing their tech support 3 days ago (crickets) 2. Calling EDD repeatedly but keep hitting the "maximum callers" wall 3. Adding their email to my contacts/safe senders list 4. Trying different browsers/clearing cache I'm planning to physically go to an EDD office tomorrow as a last resort, but it's a 45-minute drive each way. This feels intentionally designed to make people fail and lose benefits. Has anyone actually managed to get through to someone about Cal Jobs issues? Or found a workaround for the 2FA problem? I can't afford to lose my UI benefits over their technical issues!

•2 WEEKS? Oh no, that's terrifying to hear. Did you find any solution at all? My deadline is literally in 5 days.

I had this exact issue last month. The problem is their 2FA system uses a different email server than their regular communications. Try these steps: 1. Check if you accidentally typed your email wrong during registration (happens more than you'd think) 2. Add noreply@caljobs.ca.gov to your contacts AND safe senders list 3. Call your email provider to see if they're blocking anything from .gov domains 4. Try using a completely different email address if possible If none of that works, going to the physical office actually IS your best bet. Bring ID and your EDD paperwork showing the registration requirement.

•Thank you!! I triple-checked my email during registration but will try your other suggestions. Did you end up having to go to an office in person? I'm worried about wait times.

•I actually solved it with the different email approach. Created a new Gmail account specifically for Cal Jobs and used that instead. Their system sent the 2FA code immediately. Just make sure to update your profile info after you get in!

I had the same problem and lost my bennies for 3 weeks before getting it fixed. The system is 100% rigged against us. My friend said try Yahoo mail cause Gmail sometimes blocks the codes. Also the EDD offices are usually PACKED so get there early like 7am even tho they open at 8.

If you need to contact EDD directly about this, I recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in the same situation with the Cal Jobs registration deadline approaching and couldn't get through on the phone for days. Claimyr connected me to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes instead of dealing with the constant "maximum callers" message. The rep actually gave me a temporary exemption from the Cal Jobs requirement while I sorted out the technical issues. You can see how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km Best part was being able to explain my situation to an actual human who could help, instead of fighting with the broken website.

•I've never heard of this service before. Is it legitimate? I'm desperate at this point but worried about giving out my information to third-party services.

•Completely legit - they basically just navigate the EDD phone system and call you back when they get through to a rep. You still talk directly to EDD yourself. I was skeptical too but it saved me from having to drive to an office.

As a former EDD employee, I can confirm this is a known issue with the Cal Jobs system. The technical teams at EDD and Cal Jobs are separate, which causes these coordination problems. Here's what you should do: 1. First, try the new email address solution mentioned above - that resolves about 60% of these cases 2. If that fails, you need to request a "registration bypass code" from EDD directly. This is a temporary code they can issue that satisfies your work search requirement while technical issues are being resolved. 3. Document EVERYTHING. Save screenshots of error messages, failed login attempts, and record dates/times of your calls. This documentation is critical if your benefits are temporarily paused. The bypass code is your best option, but you MUST speak with an EDD representative to get one. Unfortunately, phone lines are overwhelmed right now due to the new fiscal year processing.

•This is incredibly helpful! I had no idea a bypass code existed. I've been taking screenshots of everything, thank goodness. Do you know if requesting this code extends my registration deadline automatically, or is that a separate process?

•The bypass code essentially satisfies your registration requirement for up to 30 days while the technical issues are addressed. When you receive it, the representative should also place a note in your file explaining the situation, which prevents automatic disqualification from occurring. Just make sure you get the representative's ID number or name for your records.

dont get your hopes up I tried all these suggestions for 3 weeks straight my caljobs still wont accept me & my benefits got stopped now im fighting to get them backpaid... the whole system is garbage tbh. my cousin said she had this issue in 2022 and ended up having to submit some kind of formal complant with the labor board?? not sure if thats even right but EDD is usless

•THIS!!! 👆 EDD doesn't care if their systems are broken, they just want excuses to deny benefits. My neighbor works at the state and says they have quotas for denying claims!! The whole "technical issue" thing is a trap!!

Has anyone actually tried using a different web browser for Cal Jobs? My verification emails wouldn't come through when using Chrome but worked instantly when I switched to Firefox. Might be worth a try before going through all the complicated stuff.

•I've tried Chrome, Edge, and Safari with the same results, but haven't tried Firefox yet. I'll add that to my list of solutions to attempt today. Thanks for the suggestion!

UPDATE: I just wanted to let everyone know what worked! I created a brand new Gmail account as suggested, and the 2FA verification email came through immediately. I was able to complete my Cal Jobs registration! I also called EDD using the Claimyr service someone recommended, and got through in about 25 minutes. The rep confirmed my registration was successful and my benefits are safe. She also added a note to my file about the technical issues in case anything comes up later. Thank you all so much for your help - I was seriously panicking yesterday thinking I might lose my benefits. For anyone else dealing with this: try the new email method first, it's the quickest solution!

So glad to see you got it sorted out! This whole thread has been super helpful - I'm dealing with the same Cal Jobs 2FA nightmare right now and was about to give up. Going to try the new Gmail account trick first thing tomorrow morning. Quick question for anyone who's been through this: after you create the new email account and get verified, can you switch back to your original email in your Cal Jobs profile later? Or should I just stick with the new Gmail account permanently to avoid risking the same issue again? Also bookmarking that Claimyr service - having a way to actually reach EDD without the "maximum callers" message sounds like a lifesaver for future issues.

•I can answer that! I actually switched back to my original email after getting verified with the new Gmail account. Just went into my Cal Jobs profile settings and updated it - no issues at all. The verification emails now come through fine on my original email too, which is weird but I'm not complaining! I'd recommend keeping the new Gmail as a backup though, just in case. And definitely save that Claimyr info - I've used it twice now when I couldn't get through to EDD the normal way.

This thread is a goldmine of info! I'm dealing with the exact same Cal Jobs 2FA issue and my deadline is in 4 days. Reading through all the solutions here has given me hope. My plan of attack based on everyone's suggestions: 1. Try the new Gmail account method first (seems to have the highest success rate) 2. If that fails, use Claimyr to get through to EDD for the bypass code 3. Document everything with screenshots like @Anastasia Kozlov suggested One thing I wanted to add - for anyone else reading this who's panicking like I was, it sounds like there ARE solutions and people DO get through this successfully. The system is definitely broken but it's not impossible to work around. Will update with my results in case it helps others! Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences 🙏

•Your plan sounds solid! I'm actually in a similar boat - just discovered this thread and my Cal Jobs deadline is next week. Really appreciate everyone sharing what worked for them. The new Gmail approach seems to be the magic bullet for most people. @Caleb Stark definitely keep us updated on how it goes! And @Freya Christensen thanks for posting the original question - this whole discussion is probably going to save a lot of people s benefits.'It s crazy'that we have to crowdsource solutions for what should be basic government website functionality 🤦♀️

Just wanted to chime in as someone who went through this exact nightmare about 6 months ago! The Cal Jobs 2FA issue is SO frustrating and you're absolutely right that it feels intentionally designed to trip people up. What finally worked for me was a combination of things mentioned here: - Created a new email specifically for government stuff (used ProtonMail instead of Gmail) - Cleared ALL browser data, not just cache - Used incognito/private browsing mode for the registration The key thing I learned is that Cal Jobs has some weird conflicts with certain browser extensions and saved login data. Starting completely fresh seemed to be what broke through for me. Also, if you do end up having to go to the EDD office, call ahead to see if they have specific "tech support" hours. Some locations have staff who actually know the Cal Jobs system better than others. Saved me from sitting there all day only to be told to "try again later" 🙄 Fingers crossed the Gmail trick works for you - sounds like that's been the winner for most people lately!

•Thanks for mentioning the browser extension conflicts @Liam Mendez! That's something I hadn't considered. I have a ton of extensions running (ad blockers, password managers, etc.) so starting fresh in incognito mode might be exactly what I need. ProtonMail is an interesting choice too - I was just going to go with Gmail since that seemed to work for most people, but having a dedicated email for government stuff actually makes a lot of sense for privacy reasons. Really appreciate the tip about calling ahead to EDD offices about tech support hours. That could save me a whole wasted day if the new email approach doesn't work out. This community has been incredibly helpful! 🙌
