Been calling EDD phone number CA all morning - anyone else getting constant busy signals?
Started dialing the EDD phone number CA at 8am sharp and it's now 11:30am. Every single call goes straight to 'we're experiencing high call volume' without even getting to hold. I'm pressing 1-wait-1-1-*** like I read online but can't even get past the busy message. Is the EDD phone number CA system completely overloaded today or am I doing something wrong? I really need to talk to someone about my claim status.

Same thing happening to me! Been trying the EDD phone number CA since 7:55am and nothing. Not even getting to the hold queue. This is ridiculous.

•At least I'm not alone. How long have you been trying to reach them total?

•This is my third day straight. Yesterday I called probably 80 times and got nothing.

Mondays are absolutely the worst for calling EDD. The system gets slammed with weekend backlog. You're better off trying Wednesday or Thursday afternoon.

•Good to know about timing. Should I keep trying today or just give up until Wednesday?

•I'd say keep trying until noon, then take a break. They all go to lunch anyway from 12-1:30.

I was in your exact situation last month - calling hundreds of times just to get a busy signal. Finally broke down and used Claimyr after wasting 3 full days. Got connected to an agent in 23 minutes. Honestly the best $20 I ever spent.

•Is Claimyr legit? I'm getting desperate but nervous about paying for something that might not work.

•Totally understand the hesitation. Check out their video demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10 - shows exactly how it works. Way better than my manual dialing nightmare.

•Just looked up Claimyr and they have thousands of reviews. Might be worth it at this point.

Pro tip: Don't waste time calling between 12pm and 1:30pm. The entire EDD call center takes lunch and literally nobody answers. I learned this the hard way after 50 calls during lunch hour.

•Seriously? The whole building goes to lunch at once? That's insane!

•Yep, complete radio silence during lunch. Save your minutes and sanity.

•This is why I always tell people to avoid calling between noon and 1:30. Total dead zone.

I've called the EDD phone number CA over 200 times this week. Got through to hold exactly once and the call dropped after 2 hours. Their system is broken.

Chris King
•200 times?! How do you even keep track? And that dropped call sounds devastating.

•I keep a log on my phone. 30-50% of calls drop even if you get on hold. It's a known issue they won't fix.

The key is pressing the menu numbers before the prompts finish. As soon as you hear 'press 1 for English' hit 1 immediately. Don't wait for the full message. Same with all the menu options.

Chris King
•Does that actually save time? I've been waiting for each prompt to finish.

•Saves about 30 seconds per call. When you're redialing 50+ times, that adds up to 25 minutes saved.

•Smart! Every second counts when you're making this many attempts.

Don't believe anyone who tells you the 833 and 800 numbers are different lines. They're exactly the same system. I tested it myself calling both simultaneously.

Chris King
•Good to know! I was wondering if switching numbers would help.

Logan Greenburg
•Nope, both 833-978-7853 and 800-300-5616 route to identical call center.

I finally got through last Thursday at 2:47pm after 67 attempts. The agent was super helpful once I reached them. Wednesday and Thursday afternoons seem to be the sweet spot.

Chris King
•67 attempts! How long did that take you total?
0 coins
Charlotte Jones
•About 4 hours of solid dialing. But once on hold it was only 45 minutes which isn't bad.

Sophia Long
•You got lucky with that hold time. Mine are usually 2+ hours when I do get through.

Update: Just used Claimyr again for a friend's claim issue. 12 minutes to get connected this time. Seriously, check out claimyr.com if you're tired of the manual dialing marathon.

•12 minutes?! That's incredible compared to what we're dealing with manually.

•I know it sounds too good to be true, but their software just handles all the redialing and waiting. You get a call back when an agent picks up.

Been tracking my calling patterns for weeks. Best success rate is Wednesday 2-4pm. Worst is Monday morning and Friday after 3pm. Also never call after 4pm any day - they stop taking new calls.

Chris King
•This is super helpful data! So Wednesday afternoon is consistently better?

Lucas Bey
•Wednesday and Thursday afternoons give you the best odds. Still takes many attempts but much better than Mondays.

•This matches my experience exactly. Mid-week afternoons are definitely the way to go.

PSA: There's no secret specialist line anymore. That was a pandemic thing that ended. Don't waste time trying to find backdoor numbers - they all route to the same place now.
0 coins
Chris King
•I was wondering about that! Saw some old posts mentioning specialist lines.

Harper Thompson
•Yeah those posts are outdated. All unemployment calls go through the main system now.

My phone plan doesn't have unlimited minutes and I've already blown through 400 minutes trying to call EDD this month. Anyone know if wifi calling counts against your plan?
0 coins
Chris King
•Oh no! I hadn't thought about minute limits. That's another stress on top of everything.

Caleb Stark
•Wifi calling should be free but check with your carrier. Some still count it against minutes.

•This is exactly why automated services like Claimyr make sense - they use their own phone lines so you don't burn your minutes.

Set my alarm for 7:30am, coffee ready, phone charged. Start dialing at 7:55am before they officially open. Sometimes you can slip into the queue early.

Chris King
•Does calling before 8am actually work? I thought they didn't answer until 8.

•Sometimes their system opens a few minutes early. Worth trying if you're already up.

•I've had success calling at 7:58am before. Not always but sometimes you get lucky.

I was super skeptical about paying for calling services but honestly after 2 weeks of failed attempts, I tried Claimyr. Connected in 35 minutes and resolved my whole claim issue. Should have done it from day one.

Chris King
•That's a big endorsement. How much does it cost compared to the time you save?

Hunter Edmunds
•Like $20 vs potentially days of calling. When you factor in lost work time and stress, it's a no-brainer.

•I think I'm convinced. This manual calling is destroying my mental health.

Three times this week I've gotten to the 'please hold' message and then the system just hangs up after 10 seconds. Anyone else experiencing this?
0 coins
Chris King
•Yes! I thought it was my phone but it's happened twice to me too.

Ella Lewis
•Must be a system glitch. So frustrating when you finally get past the busy signal.

Sophia Long
•Their phone system has tons of issues. Dropped calls, random hangups, busy signals when they're not actually busy.

For what it's worth, I called 127 times yesterday and finally got through at 3:22pm. Waited on hold for 1 hour 52 minutes but the agent was great and fixed everything.

Chris King
•127 times! You have incredible patience. At least it worked out in the end.

•I was ready to give up at attempt 100 but kept going. Sometimes persistence pays off.

Pro tip from someone who finally mastered this: Call exactly at 1:35pm. They're all back from lunch but the afternoon rush hasn't started yet. Sweet spot window.

Chris King
•1:35pm specifically? That's pretty precise timing advice.

Brianna Schmidt
•I've tested it multiple times. Right after lunch break ends but before the 2pm crowd starts calling.

•This is solid advice. That post-lunch window is definitely less crowded.

Don't make the same mistake I did - calling EDD during your work lunch break. You need to block out at least 3-4 hours for this process. It's not a quick call.
0 coins
Chris King
•3-4 hours?! I was hoping to squeeze this in during a break.

•Between redialing attempts and hold time, it's basically a part-time job. Plan accordingly.

Success story: Finally reached an agent after 8 days of calling. Key was staying persistent and not giving up after dropped calls. They resolved my payment issue in 15 minutes once connected.

Last piece of advice: Download a podcast or audiobook before you start calling. The repetitive dialing will drive you insane without some background entertainment.

Chris King
•Good call on the entertainment! I'm already going crazy and it's only been one morning.

Tyler Lefleur
•Trust me, you'll need something to keep your sanity during the hundreds of redials.

•Or just use an automated service and do something productive while they handle the calling for you!
