PFL claim pending for 2+ months - need advice on contacting them
Hey everyone, I filed a Paid Family Leave claim back in November and it's still pending. It's been over two months now and I'm getting worried. Has anyone else experienced long wait times for their PFL claims? I'm thinking of calling them to check on the status, but I'm not sure what to say. Any advice on how to approach this or what questions I should ask when I get through?

I found a way to solve long Paid Family Leave delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2sVvky78gk

Ugh, I feel your pain. I went through something similar last year. Here's what worked for me: 1. Be polite but firm when you call 2. Have all your info ready (claim number, dates, etc.) 3. Ask specifically if there are any issues with your claim 4. Request a timeline for resolution 5. If they can't help, ask to speak with a supervisor Good luck! The system is a mess, but persistence pays off.

This is solid advice. I'd add: take notes during the call, including the name of who you spoke with. It helps if you need to follow up later.

Same boat here. It's like they don't want us to actually talk to a human. 🙄

Pro tip: call right when they open. Sometimes you can sneak through before the lines get jammed.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

20 bucks? That's highway robbery! The government should make it easier to reach them without paying extra.

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo. And yeah, the system should be better, but this is a good workaround for now.

How long did it take to get through using this service?

It took about 45 minutes for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way faster than trying to do it yourself.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there without sending a notification. Might save you a phone call.

OMG don't even get me started on PFL claims. I swear they lose half of them on purpose. 🤬 I had to refile mine THREE TIMES last year. Make sure you keep copies of EVERYTHING you submit!

This!!! I learned the hard way to keep records. Now I screenshot everything and save confirmation emails.

Not to be that guy, but have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can light a fire under the PFL office and get things moving.

This actually works! My cousin did this and suddenly her claim that was 'lost' for months got approved in a week.

I hadn't even thought of this. Do I just call their office or is there a specific process?

Just call their office and explain your situation. They usually have staff dedicated to helping with state agency issues.

idk if this helps but I've heard they're super backed up bc of covid still. My friend works for the state (not PFL tho) and says all depts are struggling. doesn't make it suck any less tho 😔

Unpopular opinion: the whole system needs to be scrapped and rebuilt from the ground up. It's a dinosaur trying to handle modern problems. Until then, we're all just gonna keep suffering. 🦖💀

100% agree. It's ridiculous that in 2023 we're dealing with these issues. Other countries have figured this out!

Easier said than done tho. Can you imagine the chaos if they tried to overhaul everything at once? 😱
