PFL claim not processed after weeks - How to speed up CA EDD Paid Family Leave claim?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my PFL claim. I filed it a while back and it still hasn't been processed. Anyone else dealing with this? It's been weeks and I'm getting worried. Any advice on how to speed things up or at least find out what's going on?

Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of uploading? Heard it might be faster

Actually tried this! Didn't make a difference for me, but YMMV

Faxes might bypass some of the digital backlog. While it's an old-school method, it could indeed work if digital uploads are getting delayed.

Hang in there! The system can be slow, but rest assured that you're not alone. Maybe try contacting them early in the morning as others suggested.

Plot twist: what if all our claims are actually processed but the notification system is broken? 🤔

Anybody else notice that ever since they "upgraded" the system, everything's been slower? 🐌

Omg yes! It's like they took "upgrade" to mean "make everything worse" 🤦♀️

I work in IT and let me tell you, government systems are a nightmare to upgrade

That's true, government systems are notoriously complex. It might just be that the learning curve for the upgraded system is steep for both users and employees.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. Used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds sketchy. Is it legit?

Totally legit. Used it twice now. Saved me hours of hold time

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery 😤

Hi! I understand how frustrating it can be when dealing with delays in your Paid Family Leave (PFL) claim. While the current backlog can be difficult, there are a few proactive steps you can take to potentially expedite the process. First, try calling during non-peak hours, such as early morning or late in the afternoon. You might also consider using Claimyr, which some users have found helpful in navigating phone systems, though it's important to gauge whether the cost aligns with your needs. Additionally, double-check that all your documentation is correctly submitted and complete since any missing information can cause delays. If you're comfortable with it, reaching out to your local representative for assistance can be a route to consider, as they sometimes can help expedite the process or provide updates. Lastly, while it might not seem effective, regularly checking your claim status online and documenting all interactions with the PFL office could provide you leverage if you need to escalate your claim further. Balancing patience with persistence might ultimately guide you through this challenging time.

Here's what I've learned about PFL claims after dealing with this mess for months: 1. Document everything. Keep copies of all forms you submit. 2. Follow up regularly. Call or email at least once a week. 3. Be persistent but polite. The person on the other end is probably overwhelmed too. 4. Check your online account daily for updates. 5. If you're really stuck, reach out to your local representative. They can sometimes help push things through. Remember, the system is backlogged, but your claim will get processed eventually. Hang in there!

Adding to this, try to stay organized with a spreadsheet or journal to track every interaction and update regarding your claim. It can help if you need to escalate the issue.

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

Pro tip: call right when they open. Set an alarm and be ready to dial!

You could also try different phone numbers related to your local office. Sometimes one line is less busy than others.
