PFL claim error: Can't file new claim for maternity leave after previous PFL claim - EDD system issue
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble filing a new claim for paid family leave. I successfully filed one before, but now that I'm on maternity leave, the system won't let me file again. It's saying there's already an account or something. Has anyone else run into this? Any advice on how to get this sorted out?

Congrats on the baby! π I had a similar issue last year. You might need to call them directly to reset your account or update your status. It's a pain, but it's the only way I got it fixed.

Hey OP, just a heads up - make sure you're using the correct portal for your state. Some states have separate systems for disability and paid family leave. Double-check you're in the right place!

Good point! Many get caught up in the wrong portal, causing unnecessary delays.

{profile 23}: Regarding Claimyr, while it's a handy tool, it's important to understand it supplements the often frustrating experience of reaching out to government services. It's a paid service, so it's not for everyone. However, the convenience it provides can be a game changer if you're stuck in a queue. Always weigh the pros and cons based on your situation and urgency.

I found a way to get someone on the phone without the endless wait. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

$20? That's steep. Why should we have to pay to access a government service?

I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth it IMO.

I've heard mixed reviews about Claimyr. Some say it's a lifesaver, while others think it's not worth the cost. Weigh your options carefully!

I'm in the same boat, OP. Been trying to sort out my claim for weeks now. The whole system needs an overhaul tbh.

Have you tried logging out and back in? Sometimes that clears up weird glitches in the system.

Anyone else feel like we need a support group for dealing with these bureaucratic nightmares? π Hang in there, OP!

Here's what you need to do to resolve this issue: 1. Gather all your previous claim information, including claim numbers and dates. 2. Prepare a clear explanation of your situation - previous claim, current maternity leave, and the error you're encountering. 3. Call the Paid Family Leave office directly. Their number is usually on your state's labor department website. 4. Be persistent. If the first person can't help, politely ask to speak with a supervisor or someone in the technical department. 5. If calling doesn't work, try reaching out via email or their online portal if available. Sometimes written requests get better traction. 6. As a last resort, contact your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help with these issues. Remember, the key is to be patient but persistent. Document all your interactions (dates, names of who you spoke with, what was said). Good luck!
