PFL Direct Deposit Delay: Second Payment MIA, Bills Looming - Help!

Hey everyone, I'm getting really worried about my second paid family leave payment. I set up direct deposit but it still hasn't shown up in my account. I've got bills coming up and I'm starting to stress. Has anyone else had delays with their PFL payments recently? How long did it take for yours to come through?

Ugh, I feel you. The waiting game is the worst 😫 I had to wait almost 3 weeks for my second payment to hit my account. It's like they forget we have bills to pay or something!

3 weeks?! That's insane. Did you try calling them? I've been waiting for 10 days now and I'm getting antsy.

Yeah, I tried calling but good luck getting through šŸ™„ It's like trying to win the lottery just to talk to a human being there.

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous, we shouldn't have to pay for basic customer service 😤

I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho. And yeah, it sucks we have to pay, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Have you checked your claim status online? Sometimes there's info there about payment delays or issues with your claim. Might save you some time (and sanity) before trying to call.

I'm in the same boat, OP. Direct deposit set up but no $$ in sight. This system is so broken, I swear. How are we supposed to survive when they can't even get their act together to pay us on time? 🤬

Preach! šŸ™Œ It's like they don't realize we're already stressed enough without having to chase down our payments.

Okay, let me break this down for you based on my experience and what I've learned from others: • First, double-check that your direct deposit info is correct in the system. One wrong digit can cause major delays. • Typically, the first payment takes the longest. Subsequent payments should be faster, but there can still be hiccups. • If it's been more than 14 business days since your claim was approved, definitely follow up. • Use the online portal to check your claim status before calling. Sometimes there are notes about payment processing. • If you do need to call, try early morning or late afternoon on Wednesdays or Thursdays. Those tend to be less busy. • Keep a log of all your interactions, including dates and names of reps you speak with. • If you're really in a bind, contact your local state representative's office. They can sometimes expedite things. Hang in there, OP. The system is frustrating, but persistence usually pays off eventually.

Great advice, but it's sad we need a freaking strategy guide just to get paid what we're owed šŸ˜’

lol welcome to the wonderful world of government efficiency 🤔 My advice? Prepare for the worst, hope for the best, and maybe start looking for loose change in your couch cushions

Has anyone tried contacting them through social media? I've heard some people have had luck getting responses that way.

I tried tweeting at them once. Got a generic 'please DM us' response and then radio silence. YMMV tho

@Caesar Grant, I totally get your stress! I'm dealing with the same thing right now - my second payment was supposed to hit last week and nothing. What really helped me was checking the "Payment History" section in the online portal first before calling. Sometimes there's a little note that explains what's going on (like "payment processing" or if they need additional documentation). Also, if you haven't already, make sure your bank didn't flag it as suspicious and put a hold on it. I had that happen with my first payment and didn't realize for days. My credit union held it because it was an "unusual large deposit" šŸ™„ Keep us posted on what you find out! We're all in this together.

@Ravi Kapoor This is super helpful advice! I didn t'even think about the bank potentially holding the payment. Definitely going to call my bank first thing tomorrow to check if there are any holds or flags on my account. The payment history tip is great too - I ve'been so focused on just checking my balance that I forgot to actually dig into the portal details. Thanks for the practical suggestions!

@Caesar Grant I'm going through the exact same thing right now! My second PFL payment is about 8 days late and I'm starting to panic too. What I've learned from calling (after waiting 2+ hours on hold) is that sometimes there's a "processing lag" between when they say it's sent and when it actually hits your account. The rep told me to give it 3-5 more business days before panicking. One thing that might help while you wait - if you're really tight on bills, some utility companies and credit card companies will work with you if you call and explain you're waiting on a delayed government benefit payment. I got a 10-day extension on my electric bill just by being honest about the situation. Also, double-check that your direct deposit info matches EXACTLY what's on file with your bank - even something like "Street" vs "St" can cause delays. Hang in there! šŸ’Ŗ
