No updates on UI claim after 4 weeks - normal wait time?

Hey everyone, I'm getting really frustrated with my unemployment claim. It's been a whole month since I filed and I haven't heard anything back or received any payments. Is this normal? Anyone else dealing with this? I'm starting to worry that something went wrong with my application.

Ugh, welcome to the club. I've been waiting for 6 weeks now. The system is so backed up, it's ridiculous. Have you tried calling them? Good luck getting through tho 🙄

6 weeks? Amateur hour over here. Try 3 months with no update 😭

Calling is useless. I spent 2 days trying to get through and when I finally did, they just told me to wait. What a joke!

Wow, 3 months?? That's insane. I guess I should brace myself for a long wait then. This sucks.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

$20 just to talk to someone? That's highway robbery!

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Beats spending hours on hold or not getting through at all.

I'm desperate enough to try anything at this point. Might give it a shot.

Here's what I've learned after dealing with this mess for months: 1. Be patient. The system is overwhelmed and understaffed. 2. Double-check your application for errors. One tiny mistake can delay everything. 3. Keep certifying every two weeks, even if you haven't heard back. 4. Document everything. Keep a record of when you applied, any communications, etc. 5. If you do get through on the phone, be polite. The person on the other end is probably stressed too. 6. Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there. 7. Join Facebook groups or forums for your state's unemployment. They often have good info. Hang in there, everyone. This process sucks, but we're all in the same boat.

Great advice. Wish I'd known all this when I first applied. Would've saved me so much stress.

has anyone else noticed that the website is always down for "maintenance" whenever you try to log in? its like they dont want us to get our money 🤔

I heard they're prioritizing new claims over existing ones. Anyone know if that's true?

That doesn't make any sense. Where did you hear that?

Just something I saw on Twitter. Guess it might not be reliable info.

Pro tip: if you're really desperate, contact your local state representative. They can sometimes help push things along.

This actually works! My cousin did this and got her claim sorted in a week.

Check if your area has any rent assistance programs. Some places are offering help due to COVID.

Talk to your landlord. Some are willing to work out payment plans if you explain the situation.
