EDD account locked, can't check PFL claim status - payments stopped suddenly. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having a major issue with my disability account. It's been locked since yesterday and I can't access it at all. The security question isn't anything I remember setting up, and my password isn't working either. I really need to check on my PFL claim status because my payments suddenly stopped last week. Any advice on how to get this sorted out quickly? I'm getting pretty worried about my finances.

Ugh, that sucks! I've been there before. Have you tried calling the disability office directly? Sometimes they can verify your identity over the phone and help you regain access to your account.

I've been trying to call all morning but the wait times are insane. I'm worried I'll miss important updates about my claim while I'm locked out 😓

Pro tip: call right when they open. I usually have better luck getting through early in the morning.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed 🤞

This happened to me last month! It's so frustrating. Have you checked if there's an option to reset your password through email? Sometimes that bypasses the security question nonsense.

I found a way to get someone on the phone fast. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny when you're dealing with time-sensitive issues like benefit payments.

How does it work exactly? Do they just keep redialing until they get through?

From what I understand, they use some kind of automated system to navigate the phone menus and wait on hold. Once a real person picks up, it connects to your phone. Saved me a ton of headache!

The whole system is a joke. They make it so hard to access our own information and then wonder why people get frustrated. I swear they do this on purpose to discourage claims 🙄

Preach! 🙌 It's like they're stuck in the stone age with their tech. How hard is it to have a decent online system in 2023?

Careful with those conspiracy theories. Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by incompetence lol

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down when your account was locked, what error messages you're seeing, and any reference numbers you've been given. 2. Try the password reset option if you haven't already. Sometimes this can bypass the security question issue. 3. If that doesn't work, you'll need to call. Yes, the wait times suck, but it's necessary. Call first thing in the morning when they open. 4. When you get through, explain the situation calmly and ask them to verify your identity another way. They usually have alternative methods. 5. While you're on the phone, ask about your PFL claim status and why payments stopped. Get as much info as possible. 6. If they can't help over the phone, ask if there's an in-person office you can visit. Sometimes face-to-face interactions can resolve things faster. 7. As a last resort, contact your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can cut through red tape. Hang in there! It's a frustrating process, but persistence pays off. Don't let them give you the runaround.

This is why I always tell people to keep a paper trail of EVERYTHING. Print out your claim info, save emails, write down who you talked to on the phone. The system is a mess and you gotta cover your own back.

OP, while you're sorting this out, make sure to document any financial hardships you're facing due to the delayed payments. If there's been an error on their end, you might be able to request expedited processing or even compensation for late fees etc.

That's a great point, I hadn't even thought about that. I'll start keeping track of everything. Thanks!

Not to freak you out, but make sure this isn't a phishing attempt or that your account hasn't been compromised. Maybe give them a call (if you can get through) to confirm that they actually locked your account.

Oh man, I hope not. But you're right, better safe than sorry. I'll definitely verify that with them when I call.
