PFL benefits held up due to delayed final SDI payment - need help!
Hey everyone, I'm having a frustrating issue with my final disability payment and it's messing up my PFL benefits. The PFL line told me my last disability payment is held up, which is stopping me from getting Paid Family Leave. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get this sorted out? I'm at my wits end here.

Ugh, that sucks. I've been there before. Have you tried calling the disability office directly? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

Pro tip: call right when they open. You might have to redial a few times, but it's way better than waiting all day.

The whole system is a joke. I've been waiting on my disability payment for weeks now. It's like they don't even care that people have bills to pay. 🤬

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member's office? They sometimes have contacts within EDD that can help move things along.

I hadn't thought of that. How do I find my assembly member?

Just google '[your city] assembly member'. Their office should have a way to contact them for constituent services.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit?

I was skeptical too, but it actually worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks tho? That's steep just to talk to someone who should be available anyway.

I get it, but for me, it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your calls, who you spoke to, and what they said. 2. Send a written request (email or certified mail) to both the disability office and PFL office explaining your situation. Be sure to include your claim numbers and any relevant dates. 3. If you don't hear back within 10 business days, escalate to a supervisor. 4. As someone else mentioned, contacting your local assembly member can be helpful. They often have liaisons who can cut through the red tape. 5. If all else fails, consider filing a complaint with the Department of Insurance. Sometimes this can light a fire under them. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! The squeaky wheel gets the grease in these situations.

This happened to me last year. Turns out there was a discrepancy between the dates my doctor put on the form and what I had submitted. Double-check all your paperwork!
