EDD Paid Family Leave: Stuck waiting for doctor's info on Part D form. Any tips to speed up process?
Hey everyone, I'm dealing with EDD paid family leave and I'm stuck. They're asking for my doctor's info on the Part D form. I left a message with my doc but haven't heard back yet. Anyone else go through this? Any tips on speeding things up? I'm caring for my kid who just had surgery, so I'm kinda stressed about getting this sorted ASAP.

Ugh, the EDD paperwork is such a pain! I went through something similar last year. My advice? Keep calling your doctor's office every day until you get that info. Also, gather ALL your other docs while you wait. Trust me, they always ask for more than you think they will. š

This! š And make sure you keep copies of EVERYTHING you send them. The EDD lost my paperwork twice and I had to resend it.

I feel ya, OP. The waiting game with EDD is the worst. Have you tried faxing the form to your doctor's office? Sometimes that gets a faster response than leaving a voicemail.

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at EDD. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? š¤

Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. Got through to an agent in about an hour instead of spending days trying to call myself.

$20 tho? That's kinda steep just to talk to someone...

I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, and I wasted way more than $20 worth of time trying to get through on my own.

Hey OP, sorry youre going thru this. EDD is a total clusterf***. One thing that helped me was getting my state rep involved. They have staff dedicated to helping with this stuff. Might be worth a shot if things keep dragging on.

Wow, I didn't even know that was an option. Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely look into it if things don't move forward soon.

Listen up, because I've been through the EDD wringer and come out the other side. Here's what you need to do: ā¢ Call your doctor's office every single day. Be polite but persistent. ā¢ While waiting, gather every possible document related to your case. Birth certificate, medical records, pay stubs, everything. ā¢ Set up an online account with EDD if you haven't already. Sometimes you can upload documents there. ā¢ Keep a detailed log of every interaction with EDD and your doctor's office. ā¢ If you don't hear back within a week, consider reaching out to your local state representative. ā¢ Double and triple check every form before submitting. One tiny mistake can set you back weeks. ā¢ If possible, fax your documents instead of mailing them. It's faster and you get a confirmation. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't be afraid to advocate for yourself. Good luck!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write all this out. It's really helpful to have a game plan laid out like this. I'll definitely be following these steps!

Has anyone else noticed that the EDD seems to be even slower lately? I filed a claim 6 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back. Is this normal now?

Hey OP, just a heads up - make sure you're super careful about the dates on that Part D form. I messed mine up by one day and they made me start the whole process over. The EDD doesn't mess around with that stuff.

Anyone else think its ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops just to get the benefits we've paid into? The system is broken af
