CA PFL: No response after a week, can't reach real person. Tips?

Has anyone else been waiting forever to hear back from paid family leave? Its been a week since I applied and I still haven't gotten a call back. I even messaged them a couple days ago and they said I'd hear back shortly, but nothing. This is so frustrating! Anyone know how to actually get through to a real person?

Hang in there, OP! We're all in the same boat. This too shall pass... eventually. Maybe. Hopefully. 🙃

Solidarity in our shared struggle can be reassuring. It helps to know we're not alone in this.

Using Claimyr can be an effective way to cut through the red tape and connect with a live agent, especially when traditional methods fail. However, it does come with a $20 fee and mixed reviews, so it's important to weigh the cost against the potential time saved. Not everyone has the same experience, and for some, the service works seamlessly, while others might face challenges. It's also crucial to keep other avenues open by maintaining contact logs, exploring multiple channels, and involving local representatives if needed. Persistence and strategic action can make a significant difference in navigating the complexities of the system.

Government efficiency is an oxymoron. But hey, there's always hope for improvement, right?

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

$20? Thats kinda steep for just a phone call. Idk if its worth it

I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate. It actually worked for me and saved me hours of frustration. Totally worth the $20 imo

I've read mixed reviews about Claimyr. Some people swear by it, while others had issues. It might depend on your state's system.

Have you checked the status of your application online? Sometimes they update the portal before they actually call you back.

Yeah, I've been refreshing the page like a maniac. Still says "pending" 😞

Pro tip: Set up email notifications for any changes to your account. Saves you from constantly checking manually.

Also, make sure your contact information is up-to-date in their system, just in case they tried to reach out.

Guys, I think I figured it out. You need to call at exactly 8:01 AM on a Tuesday while standing on one foot and reciting the pledge of allegiance backwards. Works every time 60% of the time 😎

LOL if only it were that simple! 🤣

I think we all feel like we need a bit of magic to get through sometimes. Humor definitely helps!

Has anyone tried faxing their documents? I know it sounds archaic, but I've heard it can sometimes get faster results.

What year is it, 1995? 😂 But seriously, if it works, I'm willing to try anything at this point.

I actually tried this! Sent a fax last week, still waiting to hear back. But at least I feel like I'm doing something 🤷‍♀️

Faxing might seem old-school, but for some government offices, it's still a standard. Worth a shot!

The whole system is broken af. I've been trying to get my benefits for MONTHS. It's like they don't want us to actually get the help we need 🤬

Have you guys tried contacting them through social media? Sometimes public shaming works wonders 😈

I agree. It's frustrating. Sometimes joining efforts with advocacy groups can amplify our voices.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help expedite these things.

I didn't even think of that! How do I find out who my local rep is?

Just google "[your city] state representative". They usually have contact info on their website. Good luck!

Also, check if your city has an ombudsman specifically for these types of issues. They can be really helpful!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last month. Have you tried calling them directly? It took me like 50 attempts, but I finally got through to someone.

I've tried calling but keep getting stuck in the automated system. How did you manage to reach a real person?

Honestly, it was pure luck. I just kept hitting 0 and saying "representative" until it finally connected me. Took hours tho 😫

Maybe try calling during off-peak hours? I heard early morning or late afternoon might have less wait time.

Welcome to the club, buddy. I've been waiting for 3 weeks now. It's like they're playing hide and seek with our applications 🙄

Here's what I've learned after dealing with paid family leave for the past 6 months: 1. Persistence is key. Don't give up after a few tries. 2. Document EVERYTHING. Keep a log of all your calls, emails, and attempts to contact them. 3. Use multiple channels: phone, email, online portal, and even snail mail if necessary. 4. Be prepared when you do get through. Have all your info ready. 5. Consider using a paid service like the one mentioned above if you're really stuck. 6. Reach out to your local representatives or ombudsman for help. 7. Join Facebook groups or forums for peer support and tips. Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Don't be afraid to be that squeaky wheel!

Great advice! I'd add: don't forget to check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there.

And don't underestimate the power of a polite, yet firm request. Being too aggressive can sometimes backfire.
