Tips for upcoming EDD status check call? Need advice on prep
Hey everyone, I'm checking on my status with the unemployment office. I've got a call scheduled for Tuesday and I'm trying to make sure I'm prepared. Anyone have tips on what documents I should have ready or specific questions I should ask? I want to make the most of this call and hopefully get some answers.

Make sure you have your ID, social security card, and any correspondence from the unemployment office handy. Write down a list of questions beforehand so you don't forget anything important. Good luck!

•Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely write down my questions. Do you think I should have my past pay stubs too?

•Yes, absolutely! Bring your last few pay stubs if you have them. Better to have too much info than not enough.

Ugh, good luck dealing with the unemployment office. I've been trying to get through for weeks. It's like they don't want us to actually get our benefits 🤬

•Have you guys tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

•Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken 😤

•I get it, but think about how much time you waste trying to get through. For me, time is money, and this saved me a ton of headaches.

Here's a comprehensive list of what you should do to prepare for your call: • Gather all relevant documents: ID, SSN card, recent pay stubs, any letters from the unemployment office • Write down your claim number and have it ready • Prepare a list of questions you want to ask • Have a pen and paper ready to take notes • Find a quiet place for the call where you won't be interrupted • Be prepared to explain your employment situation clearly and concisely • Have your work search records available if required in your state • Be patient and polite - the person on the other end is probably dealing with a lot of stressed-out people Remember, stay calm and organized. The more prepared you are, the smoother the call will go. Good luck!

•Great list! I'd add: have your bank account info ready in case they need to set up direct deposit.

Pro tip: if you get a good agent, ask for their direct extension or if theres a way to reach them again. Some are way more helpful than others!

•This! I got lucky and found an amazing agent who gave me her direct line. It's been a game-changer!

Has anyone had luck with the online portal? I've been trying to update my info there but keep getting error messages 😫

•The online portal is a joke. I gave up and just decided to call. At least a human can usually figure out whats wrong.
