Need advice for upcoming unemployment law dispute call with DEW - how to prepare?
Hey everyone, I'm dealing with an unemployment law dispute and I'm not sure how to handle it. I've got a call coming up with the unemployment office and I'm feeling pretty nervous. Anyone have experience with this kind of thing? What should I expect and how should I prepare?

Been there, done that. Here's what you need to do: 1. Get all your paperwork together. Denial letters, emails, everything. 2. Write down important dates and events related to your claim. 3. During the call, explain your situation clearly and don't be afraid to ask questions. 4. Ask about the appeals process, just in case. 5. After the call, send a follow-up email summarizing what was discussed. If things get complicated, you might want to consider talking to a lawyer who specializes in employment law. Good luck!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: record the call if your state allows it. It's been a lifesaver for me in disputes.

•Woah, recording calls? Isn't that like, illegal or something? 😳

•Nah, it depends on the state. Some states are one-party consent, meaning only one person on the call needs to know it's being recorded. But yeah, definitely check your local laws first!

•Thanks for the detailed advice! I'm definitely gonna write everything down before the call. Not sure about recording tho, seems risky 😅

•Hey now, that's not fair. Those people are just doing their jobs. The system is broken, not the workers.

•Nope, just someone who's been on both sides of the phone. A little empathy goes a long way, my friend.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the link: https://claimyr.com

•Sounds sketchy. How does it work exactly?

•It's legit! You just put in your phone number, and they call you when they get a real person on the line. Saved me hours of hold time.

•$20 to make a phone call? That's highway robbery! 😤

•I mean, yeah it's not cheap, but time is money. And I was losing my mind trying to get through on my own.

Has anyone tried contacting their local representative about unemployment issues? I've heard sometimes they can help cut through the red tape.

•I did! My state rep's office was actually super helpful. They liaised with the unemployment office and got my issue resolved in like a week.

Pro tip: if you can, try calling right when they open. The wait times are usually shorter and the agents aren't as burnt out yet.

•This! Also, avoid calling on Mondays if possible. It's usually their busiest day.
